the highest burst vs. highest survivability, boxing, and you
Well let me first introduce myself, my estranged accomplices, since you have successfully awoken me to the life of WoW... for the third time out of retirement :)
I have a 70 warlock (9k hp, 700 +dmg) and a 68 elemental shaman (5.5k hp, 661 +dmg, 16% crit). I quit shaman before they got their "buff" due to lack of CC/closing gap/ES etc etc.
We all know the power of SL/SL warlock, which shines in small scale PvP, but suffers in large scale due to lack of burst. Conversely a 'lock can go Destruction and gain a ton of burst while becoming squishy.
What I've been rationalizing is the following cases:
4 x ele sham
4 x desto lock
4 x shockadin
The shamans will have higher burst damage (3500 crit CL + Shock = ~5k dmg in 1.5 second, with ability to proc LO for another 1.7k). Can heal, can res, higher armor, totems and utility.
The warlocks will have more interuptions/cc, about 2k less damage in the 1.5 second burst, but have the option of Soulfire, seduce, fear, 2 sources of insta Shadowbolts and would be able to pull of some NASTY combo's with chained/timed Shadowfury.
ie. Lock 1/2/3 wind up immolate (1500x3), lock 4 shadowfury's half a second later (1200)... lock 1/2/3 conflag (1500x3) lock 4 shadowburns (1500)... solid insta-gib.
Then you have the beast of shockadins. Put them in S1 healing gear, spec'd 40/0/21. They would be able to heal twice as effectively as the shamans, would have BoF/bubble/cleanse/stun, multiple auras, and dish out respectable damage, all in plate.
So I guess Im curious to input for desto lock and shockadin as we all know that shams are viable.
