Incoming gold inflation come cata by like... A LOT.
Cap was 214k and change.
If it's 1,000k (a million), do they expect players to have roughly 5x as much?
And a corresponding level of inflation?
To my knowledge, this is the first cap increase. It's all of us darned boxers capping out that made this necessary.
gbanks have same cap atm. previously it was higher.
ive never had over 10k gold at once... wtf are you guys doing to make money lol.. dont you buy crap for your teams? i should stick to one team instead of 7 maybe..
Capacity to hold gold on individual characters is largely irrelevant to inflationary pressures. When we see inflation, it will be because of increased gold drops on mobs, higher gold quest rewards, an increased population of people returning for cataclysm, vendor trashing of quest rewards from the leveling process, and an overstated effect because people like to blow this sort of stuff out of proportion.
The "blowing this sort of stuff out of proportion" is what concerns me. Mostly because the majority of idiots that lack a basic grasp of economics in the game. Guess we'll see how the AH fairs come Cata.
When alchemists get a potion that gives mobs a 20% chance to drop an openable chest giving an extra 5 gold and 8-15 embersilk, that doesn't point to "yes" when it comes to inflation? Don't forget the amount of gold that people will be getting extra because of guild perks, the amount of extra dungeons people will have to do for BOP orbs for crafted gear...etc etc...
Take it from me... part of the reason i even play this game is the economic aspect of it. It's well documented around here that it is partly all i care about, that and slinging around my e-peen which depending on your perspective is either massive or smaller than an asian's.
The gold challenge, or whatever you want to call it, is a part of the game.
I like to see how much I can make... but beyond a certain point, it is irrelevant.
The alchemy transmutes have made a little over 500k, so far.
Of that, I have almost 300k in gold... probably be in the 350k range with how transmutes/gems are going, when Cataclysm starts.
I've spend 85 of the 100k I transferred to alts for Cataclysm speculation (ran out of bank space, with 21 guild tabs filled with mats).
I'm hoping the speculation will have a huge return on investment.
A lot of tradeskill stuff sold for 10-20x mark up, during the first few months of both previous expansions.
Lower stuff peaked earlier, higher stuff later; timing was key, and likely will be again.
Most probably went for 5x the old value... which isn't bad if that is the average this time around.
Besides that, I'd like to think 29 daily transmutes will make something.
A daily route will be decent too, but that will likely get old after a few months.
I passed on the GDKP's, which became massively popular towards the end of WotLK...
Wasn't much point in gearing up, once Cataclysm has been announced.
I'm running seven teams at the moment.
Three are at maximum level, every toon has maximum flight skill/speed.
Three are close to 75th, for tradeskill purposes; the Priests have a great chance of reaching 85th.
The last team is in the 20's, and was quite a bit of fun, although I'm tempted to go 5x BE Shockadins (not even created yet) in their place (or potentially both, as my horde side teams); one of these will likely reach 85th too.
Will possibly need two to three additional epic flyers + 310% training.
One team is PvE geared this expansion (Pally, Lock, 3x Shaman).
None of them have PvP gear to write about.
The druids reached 80th, received a bit of 200-245 iLV gear, and are awaiting Cataclysm basically.
I'll probably have an alliance PvE team, an alliance PvP team and a horde PvP team.
And not really bother gearing the others that much.
Chances are, I'll GDKP a lot of toons this expansion.
I want to try the Druids in both PvE and PvP, if they're good at both than a set of each gear.
If they're lacking in PvE, then run a PvE team too.
I'm tempted to run 5x Discipline and 5x Elemental, as secondary PvP teams.
And to have a horde team for PvP too, either Disc/4x Lock or 5x Shockadin.
