Cataclysm Bear Tanking Macro(s) / Information

I'm not currently boxing. So your mileage with this may vary. However I am basing my information off of current level 80 heroics in mostly i245-i251 gear. My bear has become quite neglected but since I referred a lot of people to my previous bear tanking macros, I thought I'd at least offer up what little I've come up with so far.

The OP has quite a bit of good 4.0.x related info there and some interesting forward looking thoughts. Be careful though and realize just like any other class your situation may be different from his, mine, or anyone else's.

On to the subject at hand, current tanking macros. In case you didn't read the article I linked above, here's the cliff notes:

*If you have 4 piece tier 10 you should be specced into KoTJ, pop enrage first for opener threat.
**If you are having threat issues pop berserk after Enrage and mangle like crazy for some strong threat.
***After pulverize, you want to immediately get your Lacerate stacks back up, so after your first Pulverize it would look like this:

Pulverize > Laceratex3 > Mangle > Swipe > Pulverize

You want 2-3 ticks from your lacerate before you Pulverize and be using swipe in between Mangle CD and Lacerate Tick.

The Full Rotation would look like:

FFF > Mangle > Laceratex3 > Swipe > Mangle > Pulverize > Laceratex3 > Mangle > Swipe > Pulverize > Laceratex3 > Mangle > Swipe > Pulverize

* When you get a free mangle from the Berserk Proc throw it in first and then move on.
* Keep up Demoralizing Roar, use every 30 seconds between Mangle and Swipe. (Extra time on Lacerate won't hurt at all.)
* Only use FFF at the start and if you are waiting for a Lacerate tick and everything else is on CD.
* Use Enrage as needed.
* Use Berserk as needed.

The idea here is we want to get lacerate up, let it tick once or twice, get the Pulverize buff up, and immediately get those Lacerate stacks back up and ticking.You'll want to Enrage -> Spam this macro -> use Mangle / Berserk / other procs as needed, but spamming this should keep up the Pulverize buff on you as well as lacerate stacks on your target. You could probably go so far as to take FFF out of this since it's not *critical* for TPS, but I find it pretty tasty regardless.

Now obviously this is for single target TPS. AoE tanking is a bit different, and I really haven't come up with a solid macro for that since the best TPS is really going to be a lot of tab targeting. What I have so far is:

I haven't tested this very much, so you may not have much luck with it. The idea is to use this while tab targeting. The biggest issue I had in testing this was not having enough rage. I haven't been able to test this in real world heroics, so if you are able to, I'd welcome any suggestions. Like I said, I'm not currently boxing so if you guys have figured out something better, feel free to post away. i didn't see any 4.0.x bear stuff, so I figured I'd throw out what I've got so far.

Here is what I have going on as of today, I havent tested it in the dungeon yet:

I have a 3 button deal going because Im a lazy MFer, I spam one key and it hits 3 keys in succession so spamming 4 hits 4, 6, 7. For AOE, spamming 5 hits 5, 6, 7 over and over.

Single:
/castsequence reset=target lacerate, lacerate, lacerate, pulverize, maul, swipe(Bear Form), maul, lacerate, lacerate, lacerate, maul, pulverize
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Mangle(Bear Form)
/cast enrage
/cast barkskin

Multi:
/castsequence reset=combat swipe(Bear Form), lacerate, lacerate, lacerate, swipe(Bear Form), pulverize
/use 13
/use 14
/cast Mangle(Bear Form)
/cast enrage
/cast barkskin

My other two buttons that are getting hit are:
6- /castsequence reset=target Faerie Fire (Feral), demoralizing roar, null
7- Just berserk dragged in.


Some thoughts: I chose to use /cast mangle(Bear Form) instead of the /cast maul you have because i have a hard to getting berserk worked in and using it. With /cast mangle always (or often at least) trying to go off, when i do hit berserk and its off cooldown ill be getting more mangle hits out of it.

I still have to see how rage will be etc to see whats up wtih maul but im going to work with the macros I have for now.

Would love to see what anyone else is doing.

Once you hit 81 and get Thrash, the best AoE tanking is simply; Swipe, Thrash, Mangle, <other>, rinse and repeat. Mangle is the best ability, but I find having 2 gcd's of AoE abilitys to front load AoE threat is helpful. If you can, precasting Thorns is obviously desirable.

For single target, I don't see a big difference with the OP. In order to make the macro simpler, while sacrificing minimal threat, I noticed that mangle has a 6 second cooldown, which allows 3 gcd's between mangles. Between the first set of mangles, you do three lacerates and between the 2nd set of mangles, you do; pulverize, swipe, thrash.

I don't have Faerie Fire in there as I usually pull with that. If you wanted FF in the above macro I'd basically double the length and alternate FF with Thrash in the final free GCD:
