General Advices for fellow Boxers

Hi, Hope i can get some help from fellow boxers in LOTRO. I am planning to box LOTRO but before i start there are some question to find out.

1. I always see ppl talking only abt isboxer when LOTRO is concern. Is keycone also equally effective?

2. Is Warden+5RK the best boxing combination? Need to know this coz both Warden n RK required to be unlocked.

3. The instance in LOTRO is 6man rite? If so, how did u guys sector yr screenie? anyway screenshot will be helpful :)
Assuming i have 2 LCD, what is the best neatest way to slice the screens.

4. Assuming we are going to play all the way to game end and enjoy every expansion, what other features should i buy or is a MUST to buy?

5. I using a QuadCore with 8G ram, is there enough? I looked at the isboxer forum, and saw someone mention its hard to keep screen freezing with his i7...

I've am currently using Hotkeynet, and I've already hit some limitations. I'd like to hear on keyclone vs ISboxer as well.

I've heard that later in the game you may need a Guardian to hold agro properly with all the DPS the RK's can put out. I also know from playing the game that wardens are much more micro management intensive than most classes.

There are also 3 man fellowships, but yes the basic party is 6 man.

If you are buying from the Turbine store, and plan on going to end game, you are going to pay through the nose. Your best best is to try to find a Moria or SoA box on amazon. Both of these should come with a 30d time code. You can easily play pure F2P all the way to 20-25 without activating your account. After you run out of quests, THEN activate code that came in the box, and grind through 25 to ~50 in that month. Once you hit 50, all the content is in Moria (which you get added to your account when you buy a Mines of Moria box), and all of the 60+ content requires you to buy Siege of Mirkwood.

I got a Mines of Moria box for $8 + shipping. I also found a sale on Shadows of Angmar for $0.90 each and picked up 5 copies. Moria unlocks the 50-60 content, and the other side benefit of the Moria box is that it unlocks the Runekeeper and the Warden class.

Even if you dont do that, you are way better off paying or a sub for a month (3mo = $29.99) than buying the content via the points store. Unless you are really slow, you'll easily blow through $10 worth of points in under a month, AND sub'ing for a month gets you 500 points free anyway.

I think he resolved this issue to bad RAM timings.

I've tested 3x clients on a i7 965, 6gb ram, and a 8800GTX. I did not touch any of my settings and were all still left on the defaults when I play my main on a single client. I have yet to try 6 clients.

I disagree with this, a person who knows how to play a warden properly can out aggro a guardian in 1v1 or multiple mobs. Whist they're both good tanks, each is better than the other depending on which instance/raid/situation you in.

I tested with 6 clients, all running 800x600 except the main. The main was at 1680x1050. None of the clients got above 900MB,
and I didn't seem to have any noticeable slowdown on my main. Granted, I was not actually playing the other 5 accounts, but they were running, rendering, and eating ram. I did not peak out my physical RAM, so there is hope that 6GB is enough.

I'd says there is a fairly good chance your 8GB will work well in most cases.

The Multiplayer

When you multi-box your not in the mindset of 1v1 but more like a commander who needs the best possible squad to do the job.

But when I multi-box I tend to put together the team with the highest survivability and lowest maintenance. Your focus is bouncing to 6 chars and the last thing you want to do is spend time focusing on one. A guardian can absorb damage, and with the right buffs you can peak your morale up to 10K+.

You can afford to let a guardian take a beating :Dfor a bit without a lot hands on, which makes him great for instances that needs a wall between you and the next boss.

As far as systems I am in the market too for upgrading my machines so I will be looking around too for some good specs :)

After actually playing 6 clients, and loading more textures effects etc, I did have a major slow down after short while with 6GB of ram. My ram usage peaked at 5.6GB, but task manager was showing ~20MB free. It was then that the things started to stutter a bit. When I dropped down to 5 clients, it became playable again as I freed up 600-900MB of memory. Given that it's only a bit over $100 for me to go to 12GB, I'll be doing that upgrade soon. I'm pretty sure I was right at the cusp of playability, so 8GB would prob work.

I got 12GB, and I can run 6 clients now without hiccups. RAM usage peaked at 6.5GB, but i have ~4GB cached (which speeds accesses up), and ~2GB free. This is with a 8800 GTS, and an i7-960, all clients on the lowest setting.
