Did you setup a custom group and input the names directly?

Yes.
How would you set it up if you have multiple teams but only want once config? Can you just include the names of all your toons in the list and then only the ones online will show up?
For the most part, alphabetical should work.
It's just in Battlegrounds or Raids, when you have more names then you'd want.
Not sure on adding them all to one config.
It would be nice if you could have one setting for all teams.
I'd also like to have a 5x5 grid.
Where my five toons are A1, B1, C1, D1 and E1.
And where everyone else is alphabetical or any other fixed order, such that any given frame is the same on every character.
A1 A2 A3 A4 A5
B1 B2 B3 B4 B5
C1 C2 C3 C4 C5
D1 D2 D3 D4 D5
E1 E2 E3 E4 E5

i dont have the "custom layouts" under layouts.. is there a guide to setup grid for mb ?

You need Grid + GridCustomLayouts, to do non-standard layouts.
If you want mana bars on the Grid frame, you can also add GridManaBars.
Grid will require Clique to interpret the clicks.
Healbot and Vuhdo don't require Clique.
So its a personal preference between Grid, Healbot, Vuhdo etc, as far as the frame appearance goes.
