I found this while stumbling around the internet today. I appologize if it has already been posted here in our hardware forums but I did a search and think I may be the first to post it here. This monitor maybe the perfect monitor for those multiboxing on one computer.

We only sat down (crouched, really) in front of the curved display for a minute, but we were instantly impressed by the level of immersion. The panoramic screen encompasses your entire line of sight, including your peripheral vision. The effect eliminates almost all visual distractions from your gameplay. As weird as it may sound, this is actually the most practical panoramic display we've seen. You can see from our picture that the screen will fit relatively easily on a desktop. We expect it won't be cheap, but whatever the price, we imagine Alienware will get plenty of interest from the high-end gaming community once the curved display becomes available. (Source)

2880x900? It's essentially 2x 17" widescreen 1440x900 LCDs stuck together. The problem is, it looks much larger than 2x 17" displays, so the clarity is going to suffer. It'll probably look great for FPS style games, but I bet text is going to look like crap compared to large LCDs. At 900 pixels high, it's not even close to the height in pixels of the 30" screens - 1600 pixels. I definitely wouldn't pay more than the $2000 a 30" display would cost. I'd rather have 3 19" 1280x1024 monitors (3840x1024) using a TripleHead2Go and 8800GTX for that price. The curved display concept is fantastic, but I'm highly disappointed in the resolution.. I'm sure the price will be even more disappointing.

She says in the video it's the size equivalent of 2x 24" displays (3840x1200), but the resolution is only equal to 2x 17" displays (2880x900). You do the math on the clarity that'll bring. I'd rather have 3x 19" (3840x1024) than that thing, and I'm sure the 3 would cost much less.

Considering Alienware doesnt make ANY of their own components or screens I would wait till Acer sells it with their logo for 1/3 the cost. Having had 2 alienwares in the past and having to replace 2 screens I WILL NEVER BUY ALIENWARE again
