RAF guidance - 5 40's, starting 5 more

Hi all,

I've read up on RAF quite a bit but still have a couple questions and want to do it right so I don't waste the RAF benefits. Thanks in advance for any help or guidance :)

Background: I have an existing group of 5 toons that I 5-box in instances that are mid-40's now, but they are *not* RAF. My ultimate goal is to end up with 10 80's for 10-box instance fun - so I am getting ready to fire up the other 5 toons. Here are my questions (sorry of these seem oobvious but the RAF FAQ didn't quite clarify for me):

1) I assume one of my existing 40's toons refers the first of 5 new 5 toons. Let's call the new toon A. So 40 vet refers A.
2) Once A is created and subscribed, I create B, who is referred by A. And so on, so eventually I have Vet->A->B->C->D->E.
3) I will be playing the 5 new toons togeher and grinding them as a team, not boosting. I expect I'll get 3x XP for all 5 of them (even A, who is not referred by anyone in the newbie group). Right?
4) When it comes to grantable levels, I get a bit hazy. For every 2 levels each of A B C D and E earn, they can each grant a level. It seems as though they can grant these levels to anyone of *lower level* than themselves, is that right? And the grantable levels can be stored up until level 59 (once I ding 60, they are gone).
5) Is it better to use the grantable levels within the ABCDE group, or (as I am thinking) too use them on the current crew of 40's once the ABCDE group surpasses them in levels, since the 3x RAF XP bonus will make it much easier to get to 10x level 60 that way I believe.
6) If not the above - how do I grant levels *within* the ABCDE group so that yjey all stay at or near the same level?

The team setup looks correct. You will get 3x exp on all since they all are either a referrer or a referee.

under your current plan if the new team hits 60 (early morning math, so accuracy is questionable)

E grants to D -30 levels
D grants to C - 45 levels
C grants to B - 52 levels
B grants to A - 56 levels
A grants Vet 58 levels


or something similar.

Accounts only grant to the account that referred them. You cannot grant beyond 60. you can however get to 99% of a level, then grant all the way to 60 so that the toon is 1% from 61. Ideally, level 1 team to 60, then 1 to 30 to grant to. getting to 30 doesnt take that much effort even questing. That gets 2 full teams of level 60s.

Okay, that makes perfect sense - just got the A-HA moment, much appreciated!

one issue I think I see with this.. correct me if I'm wrong:

The way you have it planned out, you'll have all your grantable levels cascading back toward one veteran account, so you'll easily get that veteran 40 to lvl 60. However, you won't have any ability to grant levels to your other 4 veteran accounts, so you'll end up with 6 accounts with at least 1 60, and 4 veteran accounts that could not get any grantable levels, so didn't advance to 60.

You definately get more grantable levels, and thus more free 60s by cascading the referred accounts the way you have mapped out, but if your main goal is to have 10 toons levelled simultaneously to 60->70->80, and plan to level each team of 5 as a core unit, by grinding/questing, maybe it would be better to have each veteran acct refer 1 new acct, and use the new accts to boost the veteran accts up to 60 --- just accepting that you'll have fewer free levels to give out.

One additional draw-back to my proposal is you won't be able to cascade summons thru the game.. e.e. A summons B, who summons C, etc..

Thanks Sildenafil - you addressed the exact two thoughts I was running through my head.

If I do ABCDE as planned and burn the grantable levels within the group, poor Mr. E will be left far behind. Maybe I could then do another group of 4 RAF's all pointing to Mr. E, with Mr. E boosting to catch him up, or something like that. But it may just be true that the grantable levels get under- or un-used - I'm much more interested in leveling them together, and the 3x bonus is more than enough of a gift. My current crew has leveled well enough without the granted levels *or* the XP bonus, so I would be thrilled with even half the benefit this time around :)

if the new accounts were all linked to the veteran accounts, then all 10 accounts would have to be logged in and within 30 feet while leveling up.

I think I would stick to the original plan. Worst case you have to level 4 characters from 40-60. or if you are lazy and its worth $100, the second set you level to 30 and grant to 60 can be transfered for $20 each to the other 5 accounts.

If your goal is to get 10 accounts at 80 and you are willing to spend a buck, then this might be an option:

- chain link ABCDE to 1 vet account.
- level ABCDE up as a team to 60 (team 1)
- make a new ABCDE team and level those up to 30 (team 2)
now
E from Team 1 can grant 30 levels to D from team 2
E from T2 can grant 15 levels to D from T3
your new situation
A: 1x 60 1x 30
B 1x 60 1x 30
C 1x 60 1x 30
D 2x 60 1x 15
E 1x 60 1x 30 (all granted levels used)
now to proceed:
D3 gives 7 levels to C3 (lvl 10 after doing the first 2 quests)
D2 gives 30 levels to C2 (lvl 60)
D1 gives 30 levels ti C3 (lvl 40 now)
new situation:
A: 1x 60 1x 30
B 1x 60 1x 30
C 2x 60 1x40
D 2x 60 1x 15 (all granted levels used)
E 1x 60 1x 30 (all granted levels used)
make new toon on B2, do a few quests to level 10 ( a matter of an hour?)
C3 grants 20 levels to B3 (B3 = lvl 30)
C1 grants 30 levels to B2
C2 grants 30 levels to B3
new situation
A: 1x 60 1x 30
B 3x 60 1x 30
C 2x 60 1x40 (all granted levels used)
D 2x 60 1x 15 (all granted levels used)

A can get your vet account to 40 and grant a 2nd toon from 0 to 60 on your vet

B: 3x 60
C: 2x 60 + 1x 40
D: 2x 69 + 1x 15
E: 1x 60 +1x 30
Now considering the total cost to setup 10 accounts with all upgrades, transfering 4 toons from your new accounts to the vet accounts might be worth the 80$. You will end up with 7 accounts with 1 level 60, and 3 accounts with 2x level 60. Considering specs and switching a dps for a tank for some encounters, that might come in handy.
