Currently I have a mixed team with a Paladin tank, Frost Mage, Elemental Shaman, Moonkin Druid and Holy Priest. I'm fed up with managing eclipse procs on the druid since there is no easy way to do it, and thus the DPS sucks.
I'm therefore thinking about switching the druid into restoration and the priest to shadow.
What are the pros/cons of doing this? How will it affect overall DPS and utility? Discuss.
What was the boomkin sequence you were using?
How bad is suck? The buffs provided offsets quite a bit of dps (raid hit, haste, spell)
I would (and do actually) push both classes to dps and just break stance in emergencies or fixup situations.
well the the +hit would be the same with a spriest as a moonkin. Spriests have a more complicated rotation but probably still easy to macro. DPS wise losing the haste is going drop everyone in the group probably but your running a frost mage so something tells me you wouldn't be hurt to lose a couple hundred DPS. I like priests quite a bit more for heroic healing but really either healer is more than capable.
I agree with dropping the Boomkin. I love the class, but the PROC based rotation just sucks to box.
I dropped my own Boomkin for a Warlock, and haven't looked back (4500 GS Boomkin for a 78 Warlock at the time... lol)
I've tried 'box healing with a Resto Druid, and didn't like it personally, but I know plenty of folks do it just fine, you just gota get used to a different way of healing.

The boomkin rotation I've used is just a castsequence with Imp Fairie Fire (cause of no hit cap yet), Imp IS then Wrath to death cause I'm too lazy to watch out for procs.Quote:

I tried entering Eclipse as a proc in Jamba proc, but it doesnt seem to work, it works for The Art of War on my DK/pala team, anyone get this to work?
Have you tried using Grid for your Eclipse procs? I found I would never see the procs in Parrot/SCT but I find using Grid very nice and easy (for reference see my 2nd screenshot http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=27855). I set my Grid to tell me when the the eclipse buff is on my druid. I also use ISBoxer and I set it up to simply toggle between wrath and starfire as the fall through. So every time I see a pink border around my druid I just hit the key. I am sure it isn't perfectly efficient but it does keep my boomer much more competative. Besides my druid is "fishbeak" which doesn't seem right on a tree ;)Quote:

I think a good deal of you are completely missing the OP's point.
We (as a community) have found multiple successful ways of managing the Eclipse procs. The problem lies in the fact that you STILL have to manage the damn thing. If you miss a proc and don't dynamically change your rotation, you'll lose a TON of DPS. (upwards of 3000 dps LOST due to not managing it with a geared Boomkin - yes, its that drastic).
I've toyed with a ton of castsequences to try and put it on "autopilot" and it just doesn't work. It gets better - but nowhere near close to a perfectly managed eclipse rotation.
So instead of trying to convince the OP to "stick it out", why not help him replace the class like he asked.
With a single druid, you can manage the procs.
First you need a way to notice them.
And then you need an easy way to switch between the two.
Or alternatively, don't even switch but have your fall through something like:
/castsequence Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire.
Which while not managing the proc, will improve your DPS a lot over straight Wrath or straight Starfire spam.
The Boomkin, even if its own DPS sucks, significantly ups the DPS of every other caster on the team.
So the choice is hurting everyone's DPS somewhat and replacing the boomkin.
Or continuing with the Boomkin, and either actively managing the proc, or approximating the proc.
If you choose to replace the Boomkin, I'd pull him right off the team, instead of switching roles with the Priest.
Look at adding a warlock to the team, in the boomkins place, if that is at all feasable for you.
If you don't have a warlock now, that is a lot of leveling, which can really suck.
So maybe Resto Druid and Shadow Priest is the best bet, but I'd prefer Priest Healer + Boomkin or Warlock.
I've also swapped out my 4th Shaman for a Warlock. I tried my druid in there for awhile and I just find them horrible to box.
He does provide nice buffs tho. Have you considered making the Elemental Shaman dual spec resto?
Then just using the Resto shaman for hard fights and the rest of the time you would have:
Arcane Mage, Boomkin, Shadow Priest, Ele Shaman.
That way you would get replenishment too :D
