Macro noobie needing some pointers

Hello!

I'm a real macro noob, apart from /follow /invite etc. Sorry for the essay, just trying to get things clear in my head!

Please forgive my ignorance on this subject and Ihop I don't sound to daft, played wow for 2 years and never really dealt with macros. I'm an Ex-clicker trying to get used to keyboard and gamepad buttons >.<

Ok, I have 3 locks in my setup, my main is allready a t5 70, whilst the other 2 are currently level 12.

I've binded both the alts keys to the same as my main, Ie, I press "i" for shadowbolt, and shadowbolt fires. My alts of course do not fire, because they have no target. Will I have to MAcro every spell and action if I want them to assit my main on each spell cast?

I understand that \cast sequence with spell names after it enables me to cast all my dots after a keypress and the same macro on my alts will acst their dots too. Do I also have to incorperate assist macros in to each spell macro?

I've downloaded and installed /tb addon that helps greatley in keeping the alts on autofollow, the whisper "followme" function is great, which I have macro'd. Apologies for the long post, but everyone has to start somewhere!

set your second character up to use char1 as a focus
/focus char1


then you have your macro on char2 (i key)

/castsequence [target=focustarget] curse of agony, corruption, curse of agony. Thats if you want to use dots otherwise just sub out them for shadowbolts

By adding this on your second char, it will follow your main character as the focus and will use char1's target as your alt's target. Heaps of stuff in the stickies for more info.

Thanks for that, If I run the /focus char1 macro will I have to run it on every new target after I hit the auto follow macro ?

As long as you dont do anything on the alt that changes its focus then no, you wont.

make a macro that is just /assist focus, or /assist mainlock or whatever.

Map that macro to your forward key, or some key that you hit regularly and aren't really thinking about.

For example you have E set as foward on your main. Map E to the assist key.

You change targets you just hit forward, they assist you, then you don't have to change any of your abilities to use macros.. just normal spell buttons would work.

If you do that then you would have to hit it all the time. That is the beauty of the macro listed above. as long as your focus does not change you dont to mash an assist macro.

it just sounded like he did not want to have to create macro's for all his spells.

Its not how i do it, just a way to make one macro and have everything else he already does work x 3.

I do use the macro on forward, but only for my /follow macros
