Dealing with elemental shamans and hunters as dk + 4ret?

I'm finding that the teams running both 1 elemental and 1 hunter are my hardest matchups by a longshot as 1dk + 4x ret, both are amazing kiters and the shamans burst is brutal if you ignore him, Usually I will use my 1st DG + rockets to gib their 3rd DPS, then I just tunnel vision the shaman to keep him kiting and stop his damage until he dies. Thing is, making him die isn't so easy once HoF and DG are on cooldown with the plethroa of snare fields being thrown at my team and 2 healers alive. After doing some matches last night i'm thinking it would make the most sense to just stick on the elemental shaman and then switch-> dg/burst a healer when CDs are up....thoughts? Think its worth not scoring a gib and saving the DG+rockets for an early shaman kill?

Anyone else agree that this matchup is the worst?

A worse match up for my dk + 4 rets is a 40k hp prot warrior who AOE stun me while I can't do anything against him.

Back to be realistic, for Elemental Shaman, it is all about the grounding totem. If your Chain of Ice or DG got eaten by grounding, you can forget it. He will get away. Prepare to dispel flame shock and setup your chain dispel on all 5. Spam dispel when he drops earthbind.


As for sticking to the elemental shaman, I think if you don't CC the healers, shaman can just stand there and take your beating, and you wouldn't be able to take him down. That is with equal PVP gear. So try to repen the healer, try to buy enough time to bring the shaman low enough. There are 3 possible cases after that.

1. Healers trinket the repen and cast some kind of long heal

2. Healers have trinket on CD.

3. Healers trinket the repen, use BOP, instant big heal.


In case 1 and 2, the elemental shaman will likely die. In case 3, he would not. So for case 3, you can hope to see if you live through 1min repen CD.

OR

AOE frozen CC whoever is in your melee range, go for the healers.

Closing the distance is the issue.
If you can get them near you, they won't last long.

Any time there are no groundings down, Death Grip will kill one basically automatically.
They won't survive close proximity to you.

Anti Magic Shell will help a bit against the shammies, but the hunter is physical damage.

If there are trees or pillars to break line of sight, that's a strong option.
It is one of the strongest counters to our boxed shaman teams.

Out in the open, if you can do something which is eaten by grounding, and then Death Grip that will be your only decent option.

On second thought, hunter is much easier to kill. Why not go for the hunter. Once he is in melee range, there is nothing he can do to get away. If he jumps, grip him back. He lay traps. Let him. The "deflect" is only frontal. Once disease is on him, it is pretty much done for him.

Like Ualaa suggested, use anti magic zone against shaman (don't forget to dispel Flame shock still). Go for the hunter. Stick to melee on elemenstal shaman, you might get your ass thundered off the bridge, and you don't want that.

The key is to mount up to him. Use DG when he tries to get away.
