I notice your question on the IS Boxer IRC; unfortunately you're not there now.
You want to FTL Assist + Press 1 on down-press, and Interact With Target on release of key.
I sort of answer how to do this in Example H, on my guide.
The easiest will be to create a new Keymap. That way "1" will work normally for other groups.
You can put the keymap anywhere, does not matter.
I wouldn't put it in Control Keymaps.
On the Top Pane, left click on the Keymap you picked.
On the Left Pane, right click on Mapped Keys.
Select: New Mapped Key
Right click on Steps, and add a second step.
We will need a hotkey for this, which can be anything from a number or letter, to an F-Key, G-Key, Numpad Key like Enter or even Scroll Up on the mouse scroll wheel.
I suggest something different from your normal FTL DPS Keys, both so there is no conflict with them and so you can use them normally for other groups.
Change the option on "Execute a Step when the Hotkey is"... to "Pressed or Released".
Click on the 1, under Steps (Left Pane).
Right click on "Actions", in the (Right Pane).
You want: Key Map Actions >> Do Mapped Key Action.

-- Mapped Key: FTL Assist Me
Right click on "Actions", in the (Right Pane).
You want: Key Stroke Action >> New Key Stroke Action.
-- Target: (All Of) Character Set Name
-- Key Combination: 1
Click on the 2, under Steps (Left Pane).
Right Click on "Actions", in the (Right Pane).
You want: Key Stroke Action >> New Key Stroke Action.
-- Target: (All Of) Character Set Name.
-- Key Combination: <Whatever keybind IWT is on>

You'll need to Export to Inner Space, under the File Menu.
