Missing .exe
After the patch today the .exe is gone from both wow folders the launcher come up but when i hit the play button nothing happens and i tried to let hotkeynet launch them as usual without the launcher just from the .exe and they all came up and went right away now HKN does nothing when i hit the hotkey to launch and rename
EDIT : this is the message from hotkeynet
<Run "C:\program files\World of Warcraft\wow.exe"> failed: Operating system CreateProcess function failed; Windows reports system error 5, "Access is denied."

Same thing happened to me. Attempting to run the Repair tool right now, hoping that helps. Will let you know.
-
Yes i assume this will fix it but then i gotta do all the patches again trying to avoid that
-
Yeah I hate the repair tool for that exact reason.
-
Had an idea to see if .exe had been moved
Made a new folder in the wow directory named it wow.exe windows says no that file exists rename new folder
and you can not put a new wow.exe in the folder cause it says its there but its not did folder options show all files and folders still not there
-
Awesome shit here boys
the repair wont complete it has an error and has to shut down i suppose its time for a full reinstall
SHIT
Edit : i tried 3 times
-
This just keeps getting better
Now i went to uninstall wow and it says there are a shit ton of files that either cant be found or cant be accessed or just cant be deleted so now there will be a load of residual crap an my pc all over the place
-
Two things.
1 - Back up WoW before patch/maintanence day to another drive.
2 - Always start your sessions opening the main folder wow executable so only one update gets applied rather than 5 at once.
I have been down the road you are travelling on now. I always start one wow client first from the main folder just to see if there are going to be any patches/brief updates/whatever. Never start 5 wows without seeing 1 wow first.
Sorry you had to go through all this pain. 12 hours of DL and reconfiguring your toons... Back up every Monday night. At least with a back up you can start over in 30 min or less.

completely deleted everything wow on the computer and attempted reinstall it fails
i read somewhere that i could do a reinstall from just WOTLK disc can someone confirm this if i need to dig for the vanilla and BC discs i can do that tomarrow but the LK disc was still on my desk
-
WotLK contains all the game and patches up to 3.0 so anything after that is still needed.
Take the advice and BACKUP.
