Melee Autointeract Macro
I thought I would try and give some melee a try. I just can't seem to get them to attack anything. I use the FTL setup with keyclone so I thought I would copy most of the setup.
Turns out it doesn't work so well because my characters don't ever /assist my current leader they just are targetless.
Anyone have an idea how to fix this? May have an /assist call on all my attacks.
-
You need 2 keybinds, 1 for assist and 1 for Interact With Target (IWT).
Because IWT requires you to have a target you will need to assist first and then hit your IWT key. AFAIK you cannot macro IWT, only keybind it.
-
You also need click to move active on the slaves.
I have /assist focus in my DPS macros {I use /click macros, here}
I changed Tab to be my interact with target key on my melee slaves only {group interact is my ] key}
My tank pull macro uses Jamba to call my melee toons to me
Code:
/castsequence [target=player, mod:alt] Sacred Shield; reset=combat/target Avenger's Shield, Divine Plea, Null
/startattack
/jamba-follow master melee
Having slaves already in close range seems to reduce my chance of runaway DPS.
Don't get in the habit of spamming Interact with Target. Try to use it ONLY if your melee DPS is facing the wrong way or is too far out of range. It can cause runaways when spammed due to the way click to move works. /assist + /startattack is usually enough to get the slaves on the right target when they are already in range.

To my knowledge, IS Boxer is the only software option where you Interact and DPS with a single key.
It is still two keypresses for two actions.
You can create a Keymap with two steps.
Step 1 - Send IWT to all clients.
Step 2 - Send the keybind to all clients.
Then just rapidly double click your dps keys.
Otherwise, you'll need to have an IWT key, which is spammed every time your toons are not close to the target, and then other sets of keys for whatever DPS you are doing.
If you spam the IWT key, your toons will circle around the target, which means half of their attacks will be from behind, which is a benefit for you. However, as mentioned, if the key is spammed while the target is dead, your toons can run off into the sunset; you'll want to have a follow key ready, or strobe follow (outside of combat) enabled.
Also as mentioned, enable the "Click to Move" option, otherwise IWT is pretty useless. The default action is to use the NPC or attack a hostile creature. But without Click to Move, positioning/distance is an issue. Most people seem to really dislike Click to Move, on their active toon, but its a great tool on the slaves. If you can stand having it on the active toon, then you can lead your team from any toon, and all of the others can IWT effectively.

Is it breaking the TOS to have KeyUp and KeyDown mapped separately?
Have KeyDown be /assist and KeyUp be IWT...
Kinda the same as glueing a penny over 2 keys ...
-
It was never a TOS violation before. There were a few bar addon's that allowed you to bind to key states unless something has changed you should be able to do this.
-
I wouldn't map one thing to key up and another to key down.
Not even sure how you'd go about doing that.
Two steps on a keymap is different.
You are pressing the key twice.
But have it configured to do different things on each press.
It is still one press for one action.
And a second press for a second action.

I am using ISBoxer and Interact with Target has me stumped :P , above it is saying add 2 steps, Interact with Target? Which is this in ISBoxer? I am confused by interact with target and the benefit?
Can I get some clarification for dummies here :P

The Keymap section of my guide should help you out.
Example H, specifically adds IWT to FTL DPS hotkeys.
Might be an idea to read the examples in order, the first start off assuming you know nothing, and the later ones assume you know as much as the previous examples.
You'll want "Click to Move" enabled in warcraft under interface - mouse options.
You'll want a hotkey assigned in warcraft to "interact with target".
In IS Boxer, you'll want to change your FTL DPS hotkeys to two steps.
Step 1 sends your IWT to each client.
Step 2 is the original action.

maybe if youre using a logitech keyboard or mouse, you could get the uberoptions program. what allows you to map 2 key strokes to a button instead of just one. may work similar to your "penny glued to two keys" theory.
