Fire Nova Totem Change

Fire Nova Totem: This totem has been replaced with a new spell, Fire Nova, which is available at the same ranks as the old Fire Nova Totem. Existing characters will automatically learn this new spell in place of the totem. With a Fire Totem active, shamans will be able to use Fire Nova (fire magic) to emit the same area-of-effect damage as the old Fire Nova Totem from the active Fire Totem, not consuming the totem in the process. Fire Nova will activate a 1.5-second global cooldown when used and has a 10-second spell cooldown. The caster must be within 30 yards of the totem to use this ability, but does not need to be within line of sight of the totem.
Improved Fire Nova Totem: Renamed Improved Fire Nova. This talent now provides an additional 10/20% damage to the spell and reduces the cooldown by 2/4 seconds.


On the down side, no stun no more :( and an extra GCD to use.

On the upside, maybe viable AOE now on 6 second cooldown? FN + TS x5 = lots of pain to up to 10 people?

It triggers a global and hits less than half as hard as thunderstorm, and doesn't stun. It also requires a fire totem to be active, which my alts often do not have as searing and magma expire and I can't use globals to put them back down.

Still, talented and glyphed, you can spam (every 4 seconds) a fairly decent AoE.
Which will stack with your Magma totems.

This will be a bit painful for cleave type teams, who will end up taking a lot of damage by being near our toons.

Mainly they're putting this in, so shammies have a form of AoE which doesn't require the loss of another fire totem.
So on a raid, you can leave your Flametongue or Totem of Wrath in the ground, and still AoE a bit.

With 1x shaman's, this is decent AoE.
Not sure if its broken with 4x or 5x shammies all doing this at once.
Then again you could 4x/5x Hurricane or Blizzard too, doubt its worse then those.

We don't run into cleave much above like 1500. Highest all melee team I have seen all season was maybe 1900.

Dejavu! OMG!

I can see this being quite handy in BG's though - the choke points in AV come to mind. But I'll definitely miss the stun. :(
