Which class should I make an engineer?

In starting to do heroics I'm finding that I'd kill for a repair bot. So i'm going to level engineering on one of my toons.
Does anyone have any advice about what class would gain the most from being an engineer? I've never had an engineer so I don't know.

Whichever toon you think you're mostly likely to always have in your group. Often it's a shaman, but in your case maybe it's your pally.

I'd say someone that doesn't have rez so you get a chance to use the resurrection from www.wowhead.com/?item=Gnomish Army Knife (though it fails a lot - can be a saver) - also good for rogue or others with limited ranged capabilities

I like rogue/mage/hunters as engineers for this reason. They each have a mechanism for exiting combat.
