Is it still worth it to box Paladins/DKs?

I've been considering doing a 5x Pally and 5x DK team lately. But with all the nerfs done to DKs since the launch of WotLK, and from what I hear is a big Ret Pally nerf in 3.2, is it still worth it to 5x either of these?

What is this big ret pally nerf of which you speak?

Worrying about nerfs is like worrying about rain. Would you refuse to play pallies or death knights when it rained? Nerfs come and go, play something becasue you like the look, or the way it plays. Choosing to play a particular class because it's 'the best' is a short sighted idea.

Pallies will be fine in 3.2. There are some changes, but they will still be a solid class for boxing.

For PvE there is a nerf and a minor buff:
- Exorcism moving to a 1.5 sec cast. However the flip side is that it will once again affect players and will become an instant again when Art of War procs. Nerf - since up until now I have been using AoW procs for spot healing on my tank.
- Vindication changed to an AP reduction similar to demo shout for warriors. Minor buff for any PvE group without a warrior (since it doesnt stack with demo shout), as mob secondary stats like crit aren't affected by primary stats, and most bosses were immune to it anyway.

For PvP there are some minor nerfs and buffs:
- Seal of Blood/Martyr are being removed, and in return Seal of Command and Seal of Corruption/Vengeance are being buffed. It's still being debated which one will be better for PvP...
- Crusader Strike damage nerfed to 75% weapon damage, but cooldown reduced to 4 secs (currently 6 secs & 110% weapon damage). Little bit better damge, but over a longer time frame. Will be interesting to see how this affects rotations.
- Vindication changed to an AP reduction similar to demo shout for warriors. Nerf, since it loses it's scaling and is replaced by a flat number.

I just got my first Boxing team to 80 and they are DK's. I cant speak to a comparison of before and after, but I can tell you that They are pretty good at what they do. I quad box so not quite a 5 man team, but close. Havent tried any kind of instancing yet. Without a dedicated healer I'm not planning on it going well. I am currently working on my Paladin team. Got them to 58 last night so Divine Storm, here I come! I will say that nothing can defend a capped Graveyard or workshop like Army of the Dead x4. Except of coarse for AotD x5. muahaha. I have found that in my extremely bad gear I can take 7 or 8 Horde on at once with my legion without losing all of my team. 9 Horde seem to be my breaking point tho. Hope this helps. Just remember, Im a 'boxing newb so take it for what its worth. I enjoy them alot.

I think if people are creating teams to be "viable" you have to define what you want the team to be viable for. All classes are viable to box if your talking quests/grinding mobs ect. Viable for all content? Thats a whole other story. What makes melee teams less viable to do "all content" is some fights require you to move out of big, deadly, AoEs that some bosses do ( as one example). While there are some instances a group of palies or DKs can cream ( heroic ) easier than a traditional team.

When it comes to instance grinding, Ill stick to my paly+shams, I even have a well geared druid now and still prefer to use 4 shaman. Simple and very effective, about as viable as it can get ( for all content)

I make other teams for the "fun" of it and not for grinding instances. If they end up being able to clear some heroics at some point, great! I just do not make other teams with that goal in mind.
