1. Blizzard making masks for some race doesn't mean we can play them.
2. Goblins are mercenaries (go to the highest bidder) so doesn't mean they're on horde that doesn't mean worgen are on alliance.
An easier possibility is, they're simply expanding the mask hunt for Hallow's End, way before the next expansion. Rather than collecting masks just for the playable races, we'll have an achievement for running around getting non-aligned ones too. There was enough protest over the lack of newness in Midsummer's ... perhaps they want to keep the seasonal events fresh for those who have done them before?
As for the expansion, goblins are neutral, right down to the bone. They worked for the Horde at one time but are a truly neutral institution in WoW, as much so as the Cenarions or Argent Dawn. It would be strange and kind of lame (and disappointing) for them to suddenly take sides. Blizzard can make it happen, obviously, all they need to do is write it down and it's reality, but I think it'd be very hard to revise the image of goblins to fit the Horde, so I think they'll be more creative than that and come up with something new for the expansion.
Roflcopter. Can you imagine the wailing and gnashing of teeth if either of those went to a particular faction? Blood Elves vs Draenei, I can see. I can't see either of those two with specific ties to a faction. Goblins are neutral to both all through the game. Should be interesting to see. I predict drama ratings of at least 7.8.Quote:

I tend to view these kinds of things with a grain of salt. For all we know, the art could never get used, it's just an idea the devs were playing with. Or they're yanking everyone's chain, like an Ashbringer goosechase.
Bliz does have a sense of humor, after all.
If they had done Worgen and Panderan, that would have pointed at "the list" being accurate - that I'd have more faith in.
We shall see!
Edited to add: I just had a thought. IF the next expansion is indeed in the Maelstrom...we'll be dealing with the Goblin Kingdom. Which means Goblins will be major players in the expac. It *could* be that we "discover" that the Worgen are simply innocent dupes of what's his name, working with the Naga, they turn against the Naga, and we fight with them in the next expac, which means Worgen NPCs all over...and would explain Halloween masks for the upcoming "stars" of the next expansion. The Worgen you encounter in Shadowfang and Northrend are part of the story, and you'd still get the storyline leveling, and if the Worgen NPCs are all in a new zone of Gilneas, there's not much retconning required.
I think that has more of a "right" feel to it, than as playable races. Goblins as playable races is a bad idea, does not fit the lore, and unless they make it a neutral race that can play Horde or Alliance, then it's stupid.
Hmm. Wait. If we can now switch factions at will, then perhaps they are going to allow a neutral race, who can do Alliance or Horde quests. Interesting. Far fetched, but...interesting.
Interesting idea; here is a twist on it : introduce only 1 race initially neutral and players can choose at the starting zone to ally with either current faction (and maybe switch too) - they would learn the horde or ally common language in early quests and then be locked into it (like blood worgen and worgen of the light) with maybe some bridges along the way and some neutral quests too (that everybody can do)Quote:

The only reason I posted this is because mmo-champion posted it and they have an awesome track record in that regard. Ya they could be wrong, but I cant remember the last time they announced something like this and were wrong.
They've been wrong before, but it's no big deal, just don't get your hopes up too high based on two halloween masks. :)
Now, if they find actual armor kits for Worgen, and things like that, then yeah, they're onto something. :)
Odd don't think I've ever seen a female worgen in game.
I think I recently saw an article on either wow.com or mmo-champion about Blizzard tossing in random stuff to trick data-miners. Who's to say that this is not just a Blizzard group having fun with the community. I bet there was a Lunch Bet between 2 devs whether or not it was made into a big deal. Somewhere a team of devs is kicking back some cold ones and laughing at the community and our thirst for future knowledge of the game.
