Best class to pair with a warlock for dual boxing?
First of all, want to say it's real nice to have a community for multi-boxers. Kudos to those who set this site up.
I plan to just 2 box only. I definitely want one class to be a warlock. I can't decide whether to pair him with a priest, paladin or druid.
The goal for me is to have a partner to help my lock farm. Sure, locks can solo quite well. But infinite mana with lifetap and some heals sounds really appealing to me. I've heard stories of locks farming regions of Netherstorm for 250g+ an hour with a healing partner. And that 250g is just his cut:) Signets, cloth, armaments, coin, etc.
Here's what I've seen/heard so far:
Warlock/Priest
Shadow weaving, great synergy, heals, shields, pretty self-explanatory.
Warlock/Paladin
Great flexibility. Pally can stand back and act as a defensive priest for the lock & pet, or round mobs up on his mount and tank them all while the warlock hellfires with improved talents & Concentration aura or uses Seed of Corruption.
Warlock/Druid
Don't have much experience with druids, but I imagine they closely match the flexibility of a paladin.
What do you guys think?
Re: Best class to pair with a warlock for dual boxing?
I'd go for the priest. Not only is there, as you pointed out, Shadow Weaving adding 10% dmg, but if you put the full 41 points into Shadow talents you wont even need Life Tap.
And not to forget, they've got the same basic playstyle: Dot up/debuff, maybe fire a nuke, then start channeling. Difference in durations can be easily fixed with macros (nochanneling:<spell> option).
Last but not least, if you want a paladin or druid to tank you'll need to specc that way, so the priest's healing should even be better. Mind you, even if specced for it they wont last long if tanking without someone healing them.
