Hello all!
I search people who play a team of 1 paladin / 4 shamans or videos where I see the interface.
I just finished my PL session of this 5 characters and have difficulties to organize my UI, Keys and others things.
Few questions in my mind:
- How to organize the spells on the paladin to cast own spells and shamans spells at same time
- How to track chain lighning and others CD of shamans on the paladin UI
- ...

Create macros and put them on the same keybind. Put your DPS macros on the "2" key and you can just button mash the "2" and watch a movie. There are good posts about Elemental Shaman DPS macros, easily available by search. There are also Paladin DPS macros.Quote:

I never bother keeping track of cooldowns. I used to do that, but now I just use 3 keys: LB on one, CL on a second and a /castsequence Flame Shock, Lava Burst on a third key. Then, when I pull multiple mobs I'll mash the LB and CL keys. When on a boss, I'll use the LB and FS/LB keys.Quote:

Ok. I think people using complicated key combination, mapped keys and others things to control all characters. I see it's simple finally!
I imagine it's for that reason most boxer don't use the paladin in arena and take another player to play this class (or another)...

Personally, I found it easier to have my 5 core tanking abilities clicked during fights, since im not using my mouse for anything else. I have a seperate button (G3) which does my boss-dps macro (pops trinkets, efficient FS management etc) but buttons 1-4 on the slave accounts use a lesser dps macro for trash.
Works okay so far.. but I'd like another row of G keys to use.
I'm currently running Pally/4xShaman.
Using HKN, Kgpanels and defining window regions, you can effectively remove a lot of keybindings in favor of virtual buttons that you can click.
I have a set of virtual buttons next to each party member in my group. These buttons correspond to either targeting that party member as the target of that spell (chain heal, LHW, etc.) or used as a single party member ability (Party1 uses Thunderstorm, etc.). I leave all my DPS buttons on 1-4 mainly and my pally tanking is done with a combination of 3 different keybindings. I bound my E key to a tanking macro that I spam. I have the ~ set up as a modifier for access to my main bar and my secondary bar is modified by Alt. I also have the numpad keybound to 1-9 on my pally in case I need a quick taunt or whatnot.
Standard fight has me spamming E for my pally, then alternating through Flame Shock, Lightning Bolt, Lava Burst and Chain Lightning (1 through 4 respectively). When I need to heal, I click on the healing spell next to the party member that needs healing, which activates the virtual key that targets the correct party member and casts that spell on them.
I have a secondary set of virtual keys set up for utility spells such as Thunderstorm, Hex, Purge, Magma Totem, Healing Stream Totem, Elemental Mastery and a few others. These are activated through a click.

You have to balance between ease and power.
The more things you manually click or cast the higher the dps or more threat you will deal.
The more things which are a castsequence, and the easier your play will be.
Your tools for semi-automation are "Castrandom" and "Castsequence".
You're still going to get one action per one keystroke.
Ideally, you'd like to go Flame Shock, Lava Burst, Filler Spells, Lava Burst, restart sequence.
Because Lava Burst will automatically crit after a Flame Shock and its our top dps spell.
Elemental has a talent which reduces mana cost for offensive spells after a crit.
Ideally cast your more expensive Chain Lightning after the Lava Burst.
A cast sequence will occasionally have a spell be resisted.
A cast random will sometime cast Lava Burst before Flame Shock, which removes the auto critical hit.
For maximum shaman dps, you'll want to be able to manually cast these four spells.
For ease of play, you'll want to be able to mash one button and not think about it.
I've personally put these four spells on four keybinds, so I can push them in the order I want.
I've put my pally tanking macro onto all four keybinds, so no matter how I dps the pally clicks the tank macro.
You could go the reverse, and have the shammy dps macro on a few keybinds and click pally abilities as you want them.
Or optionally put them both on macro's and have a very easy time just mashing one button.
Anyway, shammy spells you'll want in your sequence/random macro or to click:
Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Flame Shock, Lava Burst.
Paladin spells you'll want in your sequence/random macro, or to click:
Hammer of the Righteous, Shield of the Righteous, Judgement of Wisdom (or Light), Consecrate (unless you manually cast it), Holy Shield, Divine Plea (unless you manually control this).
There are threads for Paladin tank macro's. I'm toying around with one I found.
/castrandom Holy Shield,
/castrandom x, y, z.
There is a comma after the Holy Shield. This means half the time the macro clicks Holy Shield and half the time it clicks the null.
When the null is clicked, nothing happens, which gives the second castrandom a chance to kick in.
When it does, it randomly clicks one of the abilities.
If you want a 1/3 chance of Holy Shield, make it read: /castrandom Holy Shield,,
The search feature will show you what has worked for others.
You'll end up with a system that works for you.

I have tried about everything. I used to really micro manage different spells and items and cooldowns. What works the best for me is making one macro, or a macro that /clicks other /castsequence macros, and mashing the snot out of it over and over, lol. I do as well doing that as I ever did trying to make sure I hit all the timing on the CDs and had the important spells up all the time. I have been successful at everything I have tried. I use two macros my #2 key, and both (pally tank and ele shaman macros) I got from here, and one macro bound to a separate for heals from my resto shaman. I don't think I need a resto shaman anymore for heroics, but I am too lazy to change him out.
I think the combo in the title is the most prolific boxing composition and rightly so - it's the easiest to get a hang of. Just look on youtube for videos and alternately there is a bunch of posts in macros for shaman and paladin stuff.
Here's my perspective, and you can just replace the DK I use with your Pally. Like others have said, all my DPS are on normal keys as if I were playing solo, I.E.:
1 = chain lightning
2 = lightning bolt
3 = lava burst, etc.
Ever since I started playing WoW, "G" was my silence/counterspell/spell lock, so it made sense to make my shocks (earth, fire, frost) on my "G" key. So with me, I start off with G, and 3 for lava, then spam 1 or 2 according to what I'm doing (chain for multiple mobs, regular lightning for 1 mob).
For my tank, I use " ` " (to the left of 1) and spam a castsequence with my pinky. I don't know exactly what the macro is but it is something like
/castsequence reset=target Icy Touch, blah, blah
You just switch that out for your relevant pally spells (can't help you there, I know nothing about playing a pally).
So, if you're pretty dexteritous (can't believe I spelled that right on the first try :) ) just spam your pinky, and hit the dps spells with your other finger. It's worked great for me, and it's so simple I still catch myself hitting ' now when I'm running my 5 shaman again.
I run a pally, 3 shammans and a moonkin (he was my main before boxing).
My setup is very simplistic:
1 key - only used on pally, its my main castsequence (judges, hammers, shields, etc), just google for the best pally rotation, stick it in a castsequence, Bob's your uncle...
2 key - On my pally its now the mana regen spell, before it was empty. On my shammies and moonkin its my spell attack cast sequence. Note I use a complicated Focus Less/Target Less system, a simple /assist <pallynamehere> works just as well if you don't want to try to keep going when the tank bites it
3 key - on pally and moonkin its blank, on shammies its heal current leader (again, complicated FLTL system, you could just /target <pallynamehere> too)
4 key - shamans self cast chain heal for group damage, I rarely use it, the healing totem stacks are pretty efficient.
My fights (trash and bosses) consist of the 1 key a few times, then I'm spamming both 1 and 2 at the same time, and as my tank needs it I'm hitting 1 & 3 then back to 1 & 2. This allows my tank to keep aggro building, my moonkin's DPS is only slowed down a little, and I can get a quick top off of the tank then the shammies are spamming again.
It took me several different setups before I landed on this one, it felt the best to me, just keep trying different things until you find something that personally works for you.
