Halls of Lightning, Ionar using an 5x pally

has anyone done Ionar with an all mele team?
he's a pussycat for my pally/shaman team with 4x healing stream and I hardly have to heal non-heroic and even on heroic it's not much of a challenge.
I can't survive the first conversion on non-heroic mode with my 5x pallys.
the aoe bombs are rough when everyone is on top of the boss and I didn't try to run away since I don't do that with the shaman team. I guess I should have at least given that a try.

the one time I tried to run the boss once converted back was able to shoot aoe bombs through walls at my team pretty much killing be before I could get back to him.

I was able to down this guy with my all DK team, but it wasnt easy and that was on normal mode when they were all 80. You have to run away, but honestly you need to use a key to run and not autofollow. Follow is just too slow and most your dps will die after the second conversion. I hate this fight, big FU to blizz for making it meleeimpossible on heroic.

I've tried healing through this with my priest and it is ROUGH. I don't know if it's just easier to time this with shamans or what, but I had about a 25% chance of success healing through it.

With Paladins it will be different, but with my group the way I do it is line my guys up in a position where they have room to the left (or right, whatever you prefer) to strafe. Once he begins channeling his explosion everyone strafes out of range. The only tricky part is getting them lined up again so that during the next explosion you have room to get out of range again. I usually only have to avoid 2 explosions, maybe 3.

Once you've got the timing down and know where you're strafing to, it's not too tough.
