Need anwsers...

This day I had a conversation with a so called "specialist" who knew
more or less abaut hardware and software. We were discusing if the set
with I choosed was apropirate to what I wanted to do with it. Bassicly
the changes are:



Phenom II x4 810 2.6 ghz to Phenom II x3 710 2.6ghz. Reason? Lower price, same effect. Do you agree?



BTW I didnt had much feedback on the other hardware if it was
apropirate since I didnt had posts from those who I expected to have.
So once agian and I'd like to have an anwser from more then 3 peeps.

Once agian this will be on one Monitor Samsung 2333W (20,000:1 5ms) with only master char with high graph setting and slave char minimal setting, and NO I wont PvP... seriously.



Other problem was discusion abaut upcoming Windows 7. Officially
it will come in October with is pretty long. Is it worth to wait this
long for this system with might be more beneficial for Multiboxers? or
should I stick with Vista? From his opinion it seem'd that Vista
requires to many patch and it would be better of to just make a new OS
for Microsoft. Do you agree with it? I'd like to have an anwser from
someone who actually got his hand on beta of that new OS and Vista both.

I use 6400 3.2GHz X2 in all my systems.

Gygibyte is quality company. I use MB's with heat pipes though.

Ya I dont think you lose much going from 4 cores to 3 as long as the clock speed is the same, some will have different opinion.

I dont have Win7 but most say its great. You can still get the beta from what I understand.

Few are familar with Pheons nowdays. Everyone is going Intel I7 / 920 / X58. Thats why few answer.

If the price difference is not that great, and if you can afford it, I would suggest the X4 instead of the X3, Why? More cores means that your system has an easier time running multiple applications simultaneously. So if at a later time you decide to try 3,4 or 5 boxing, the X4 with the extra core can better handle the load then the X3.
Even if you don't plan moving past dual-boxing, but just taking computer applications in general, the more cores the better, since newer applications are increasingly taking advantage of multi-core systems. :)

Did the "specialist" truly understand your needs?

I know when I am recommending products to people, I make my best assumption to their needs. IMHO, very few people need a quad core because Myspace and Excel don't utilize multiple cores very well :P Since multiboxing is one of the rare instances where you can pump 4 (or more) cores, I know I should recommend the quad over the x3.
