Dealing with a team with at least one stealthed class?

In 3s or 5s and you realize there is a druid/rogue on the other team, how do you handle engaging the battle? Sometimes I think that if it is a rogue that he is prob trying to sneak around and do what they do....and in this case I tried to bring the battle to them instead of waiting for the rogue to make the first move.

how do yall plan what to do?......waiting for the battle to come to you or pushing forward to engage the other team first?

I am also not too familar with priest...holy/Disc. It seems that if i get the jump on them and get them with 3x LvB crits....they just absorb most of the damage and are back at 100% in 2 sec. Do i need to purge them first or something?

im not that much of a PvP wizz kid but if you think of Ele shaman possibilities and a stealther then youcan easily come down to conclusion that you just pop Thunderstorm whenever he shows up.

True, but I was wondering if people wait for the rogue to hit....or charge in knowing that the opposing team is waiting for their rogue to hit you first/or they wait for thier rogue to get in range of you then they charge in.

My thoughts were that a stealthed rogue away from the action either has to slowly, creep back into positon(or pop sprint while stealthed). So instead of waiting for the rogue to initiate the battle and hope you get him with the random root, you can initiate the battle to the others. Dropping random roots while engaged in fight would have a better chance to catching a rouge than spamming it before battle.

3s have not been too bad for me, i win about 30% of the time. :D But 5s with a druid healer friend.....its just ugly. So by no means am i trying to say i know strategy, but it seems if i can avoid the opening sap, it would give me a jump on the competition.

If the enemy team holds one stealther its pretty easy.

If you dont see a mage but a intelect buff its a mage.
If you see thorns and motw its a druid.
If there are no buffs its MOST likley is a rogue. (note: some teams avoid buffing, but it usualy dont pay off in the long run)

I ususaly use earth bind totem for getting rogues out, but when you play one shaman you have to wait for someone to get sapped. (staying mounted can help you staying away from the rogue once your partner is sapped) If you get the rogue out of stealth before he can cheap shot you force him to waste his cooldowns. So he eithers have to trinket,clos or vanish and it also makes bad rogues do tons of mistakes since they cant adapt to a fight that doesnt start with cheap shot or garrot.

Does rogue SAP now work even if you are in wolf form? iirc that was one way of preventing it but I haven't pvp'd in forever.

No, not any more...but Earthbind can root them out of stealth at an insane distance. Now, rogues and druids have to worry about a Shaman's Earthbind, like a Hunters flare.

For boxing, think of arena like a chess match. You want to control the dominating positions. Put yourself in a position where they can't LoS you very easily if they expose themselves for an opening. Fighting on the bridge in Blades Edge can work for you, or against you. Standing on the shadow sight can be a good position since you know where the enemy would come from, and you can see where the sealth'd players are.

Just because they have a rogue or druid does not mean that they are going to open on you w/ the rogue or druid. If you have enough resiliance, they can't kill you during a stunlock anyways. I spent about 4 hours on my rogue last night to "number crunch" my burst damage. The best I could do on a shaman was about 22k of damage during a stun lock (without resiliance). This is about 8 seconds of exposure.

I've waited out a 3v3 team for 40 minutes because they didn't want to come after me. It was rather annoying, but it was a win.

If you rush in, be sure to have a plan. Don't rush in for the sake of starting the battle. Evaluate their team to see who would drop easily. Mages/Paladins/DK's have their immunities; be aware of anti-magic, bubbles or iceblocks. If you're 3x Shaman, you have an advantage; the fact that they can't easily choose a focus fire target. If their in vent, and you're rushing at them, they can only say "get the shaman?" They could end up split DPSing. If you give them enough time to figure out which one to attack, it works against you and you find yourself in the "healing-defense" position.


Here's some tips for fighting rogues:

Keep a cleansing totem down at all times (perhaps 2). A rogue does 20% more damage with their Mutilate on poisoned targets.
They can only sap you if you're not in combat. Purge will get you in combat.
Save a Thunderstorm for killing spree. This can wreck your team. If you see the rogue quickly teleporting around your team, bounce his ass back to make him waste it.
Cloak of Shadows is on a 2 minute cooldown. If/When they burn it, keep an flame shock on him to prevent him from restealthing.
Vanish is partially broken. You don't really need to do anything about this but get lucky. If you see them running away from you, hit them with a shock. Good chance you will "break" their vanish.
If they're a shadowstep (deep Subletly) rogue, they have a very painful burst dps. If you happen to survive this...you can ignore them for the next 2 minutes since they are useless while the Subletly talents are on cooldown. If they hit you with Hemo (debuf looks like a drop of blood), they are most likely shadowstep.
The role of a rogue has changed within the last two seasons. They're an assist class (blind/sap/etc). They are the squishiest class in the game right now.
Rogues do not stack resiliance because they lose attack power. Most rogues will have very little resiliance. If you can catch one out of stealth, make them pay.
As of 3.1.0, Rogue sap and Mage sheep share the same diminishing returns. Good to know if you see a mage casting polymorph at a sapped target. Save that trinket for a kidney shot.
Make a totem farm around you. It doesn't matter what you have down, the rogue will stay away now that they can be rooted while in stealth. It will buy you more time.
Most rogues pop sprint at the beginning of the match (watch any rogue arena video on youtube for proof). Just lay down your totems for about 15 seconds and wait it out. They walk slower while in stealth. Start "totem-walking" then, but watch out for distracts. Spam your follow key.
The game mechanics were designed so you can see a stealthed rogue in front of you, but never behind you. Rogues know this so they avoid walking to you from the front (except during the first 15 seconds of sprint). If you suspect a sap coming, it will be from the back left or right. It takes too long to get directly behind you. Even if you get sapped, it does them no good if their team is not near you. NEVER trinket a sap. You should always be in combat, or wait until it wears off. If they sap and rush, you weren't in a dominant position to start.
Rogues are the 2nd least played class (with Warlocks being the least played class). That's got to be some good news for you if you're so concerned about them. Ironically, Warlocks are the easiest thing for rogues to kill. No rabbits? No wolves. They have to work hard for everything else.
