Anyone serious with their DK's?

Heya, I have 4 lvl 80 DKs and I have recently (after gearing my shamans with almost full Furious and deadly) gearing them out for pvp.

Now, they are not as easy to use in PvP as shamans, but they are also NOWHERE as squishy. I wanted to know what people had been doing with theirs, as I know people have them. i saw the bones krew going full blood spec and running around WG with tenacity, but does anyone do arenas? serious BGs and win a lot? I wanted to see what people thought of specs.

I really like Unholy rather than deep Blood for a couple of reasons, 4x anti-magic zone is ridiculous, every caster in the games hates you when you chill in there for 40+ seconds and just pull stuff in and blenderize them. My gear isnt great yet, I still have a LOT of blues on my team but I spent the gold on the destroyers and they are working out great, they may not be best in the game but they are better than blues.

and I really liked the great burst dmg of several frost strikes and howling blasts you could manage to pull off at the same time.

with one spec you rely heavily on melee range and desecration but chillbains makes catching up to kiters MUCH easier.

I dunno, I'm not convinced on either spec yet, Frost seems more durable and long lasting, Unholy seems more cooldown heavy (gargoyle, bone shield, AMS and AMZ)

In a slightly related note, beware of ele shammies knocking you out of your bubble.
Did some pvp on my shammies, and DK's would pop their antimagic zone thinking they'd be hard to kill, I just run up to them (if they dont deathgrip me first), thunderstorm, and kill them before they can get back inside it.

I used to tear up BG's with my DK's before 3.1,being heavy UH Ghoul spec.
Since the patch they aren't as durable,not by much but its enough.
If you are going to PvP in BG's now you are going to need a skilled healer Holy paladin is nice.
Arena 5v5's are a joke,I wouldn't bother unless you are looking to just gear your toons.
Oh and ghoul stun is far more usefull than hungering cold,with 5 dk's.

My teams are only mid 60's, but I love my DK team for pvp. I perform much better as my DK team then I do my shamans for AB. If this pattern is any indication of what they will play like at 80, I'm honestly more excited to get my DKs to 80 then my shams :D
I call my team The Ghoul Storm, and they have one main trick that I MAKES the team. It's glyphed Rune Tap. When they all rune tap at once, they heal themselves for 20%, and everyone else for 10%, so it's like a 50% instant health heal for everyone every 30 seconds for my team of 4.
Like i said, i have no experience at 80 what they will perform like against gear opponents, but right now they are SUPER fun. Also I leave my leader in Frost, so he has lots more HP and armor, as most people target him, and all the others in blood for the extra damage.
If anyone else has DK multibox info/tricks please post I would love to make my team even better!

PS: This is also my first team w/ characters of different races, the dance parties are SO much better!!!

At 80 you will get CC'd and burnt down,and without a skillful dedicated healer who knows how to mend you ,you will die alot and most likely get frustrated.
Its doable tho if you have a friend who will stay with you and heal/back you.
Shamans are a better bet at 80,they may not be as durable as plate but self healing more than compensates,plus you will get alot more love than DK's,for the bonus from you totems ;p

I have read a few people complaining that the DK aoe freeze move (i forgot the name) is just hell for boxers as they just freeze and burn down 1 by 1, but w/ 4 DKs, you could have 4 aoe freezes, maybe it would be possible to do decent if you were the one doing all the CC'ing.
Just a thought.

Its possible m8,I guess the only thing is to try it and see.
I'd like to add tho you might want to consider levelling both teams on rested XP,i.e When your DK's XP bar goes red,swap to your Shammies.
I really regret not having my Shams done before or at the same time my DK's dinged 80,sometimes Melee teams can get frustrating so now I can swap back to shams for a change ;p

thanks for the "shamans are better than DKs at 80" I know, I have 4 of each. I was asking (as the title suggests) if anyone took their LEVEL 80 DKs seriously in BGs / arenas.. aparantly not since the only one to post something real is only lvl 65 (which, sorry doesn't count you are given epic quality gear at lvl 55 and all the retards in greens should be rolled over.

You deeply misunderstand what I said.
You asked and I told you.
I will tell you again so you understand clearly ,your DK's will get buried in PVP without a dedicated healer,I know I ran a 5 man team from the day WoTLK launched and struggled through Arenas and BG's until after months of PvP,I got sick of being CC and burned down.
It doesn't matter how much plate you have,once the op4 get wind you are boxing DK's you will get CC'd,and AoE'd down.
But like anything your experiences may differ from mine and I wish you luck.
