Correct way to use external information

I've found a lot of useful information in forums (both ours and other boards) that I'd like to add to the EQ2 wiki.
The problem is, I really hate to just link to external information because it can change without warning.

I'd also like to format the data into a more user-friendly layout.

Are there any guidelines on how to handle information someone else has written on forums?
Do I just use the content, and provide a link back to the original thread/forum/author?
