Hello,
First off I wanted to say thanks for this forum, it is a wealth of information.
So here goes, I am starting a new 5 man group and wondering if a Warrior would be a good tank instead of a dk or pal. Just wondering your thoughts , ya know pros and cons.
I have a 80 dk already I can use but I am starting 3 shm already just thought i might throw in a war for fun .

A warrior in your team means more "complex" tanking in comparison with a Pally/DK
It is a lot harder to keep AE Aggro with a Protwarry (Shockwave made it a bit easier but consecration > all)
On the otherside a Pally gives you all the nice auras/buffs - warriors only provide the HP Shout...
In my oppinion its a personal flavor, which class you want to play, but i would prefer the pally :D!
warriors will have to aggro dance until they get shockwave.
thunderclap works and theres a glyph somewhere that will rend multiple targets. forget the name. these can be used. i dont know too much about warriors, just a warning.
anyway, you forgot to mention levels, as some folks may have level 60 warriors ready to go via RAF, but others may mean lets start a warrior at level 1. i'd like to know what level you're starting on so we can better give you advice. whats your team composition like? just three shammies and a healer?
just like a druid tank, always give the tank some time to build aggro. they have rage to use in order to do their abilities, and rage starts with a charge, then some autoattacks/getting hit does the trick to add more rage. tab through a few targets. what i find useful is to put a HoT (heal over time) spell on the tank before a pull. this ensures that the warrior's healing draws aggro to himself and not the priest/druid that casted it. as your tank begins to build aggro with the rest of the mobs, you can toss another HoT when the other expire. always keep HoTs up and throw in large heals when necessary. by the time you toss the first big heal, you should be in no danger of losing aggro to your healer. on bosses, begin the same way buy you dont have to worry about multiple targets losing aggro. i would begin my dps/healing after two sunders. this is what i do for my druid, to begin dps after two lacerates for solo bosses and after the second swipe and first mangle for multiple mobs. with pallys or DKs, you simple dps right after they drop a consecrate or DnD. rage-dependent classes dont have that luxury.

Paladin does really outclass all other tanks in terms of both ease of play (woot spam macro) and buffs to the group.
A caster group will be benefited by an unholy DK (ebon plague) or a prot pally (great buffs).
Id say all 4 are viable (though pally is still easiest) in a melee group.
Thunderclap and demo shout are enough to keep aoe threat up in the lower level instances (can't comment on any heroics yet). To improve on threat I use thorns, retribution aura and an aoe pet with vigilance, but at the moment this is overkill.Quote:

I would think 5x paladins would be better. Without healing it's a HP race. Can you kill them before they kill you? Protection warriors I think will be nice to play, but once you get out of solo content (questing to 80 etc), I think you will be struggleing with all L80 5 man content and no chance of heroics.
I have 4 druids in my group and the "lasts for 15 seconds" thing seems to me to be more like 7-10 and hardly lasts long enough to take a deep breath, let alone juggle that between toons.

Tanked with a warrior during tbc, not raids thought only a few instance. Also tanked with a druid and played my DK to 80 semi tanking with a mixed group.
I would CERTAINLY not recomend you to take a prot warrior if your cant singel box him properly!
Paladins are so easy to tank with, all you realy need to keep up is holy shield for some migation.
A bad tanked warrior migates nearly no damage.. And you have to keep shield block up all the time its not on cd to get a proper migation, well thats the way it was in tbc. Warriors got tons of fancy tools and is much more fun to play then a prot paladin but for boxing it can get realy recomend it since the fights can be more then enough challenging with positioning and healing.
