G15 - Sending only 'G' keys

Been dual boxing for a while with Multplicity (Use synergy at work but mouse spins on gaming).

I just purchased a Logitech G15 and was wondering if it is possible to send the extra G keys to my other system only. I have been reading that multibox can do selective key broadcasting on the modified version but the link won't work to test it out. Is there anybody who has this working or any other options that would work. I will probably still use Multiplicity as from reading about synergy it will only work with standard keys. I was just hoping to set these extra buttons to control my second box.

Any info would be appreciated.

With only the G15, no. It blasts everything - you would have to set each machine that gets the data to selectively interpret the data differently.

Plus, the G15 is USB only - a big problem when it comes to multicasting. You will have to go software only - but the good news is that it IS possible to do what you want it to do. It's just tricky.

Either remap the main system to ignore said keystrokes and use synergy with broadcasting to send them (if it will, the extra keys can be tricky) or try out multiplicity as you already suggested. Another option is to program the G15 to make the extra keys perform as "regular" keys - like perhaps alt+1-9? I avoided the G15 because it was USB and well - HUGE so I cannot say for sure if this will work or not.

I have a limited setup working now. I am sure synergy has the same type of feature; in Multiplicity I can set a hotkey to switch machines. I set up my 'G' keys to hit that hotkey, then the commands I want to send, and then a hotkey to go back to the main system. Not perfect, but it lets me send specific commands to the second machine without to many problems.

Still haven't figured out a way to broadcast those extra keys. Will try your recommendation Xzin when I can find a link to the version of synergy with broadcasting that works. Link on these forums is dead.

I'm not sure how it's handled but even with multibox(keyboard hook program) it broadcasts the actual keys that are bound into the G keys. Now it could very well send the "G" press as well, but without the G15 plugged directly into other other computers it will nto make it to the profiler I believe. I have noticed a few problems with making macros and the such. I created a macro that pressed F9(broadcast keybaord shortcut for multibox) then press ctrl-alt-shft-=(my mount binding) then press F9 again. This should in effect, turn broadcasting on, then mount everyone, then turn broadcasting back off... this does not do it though. I'll look into it more when I have some time. add a simple logger to log the keys pressed and their vk_keycode and ascii code to see what the G keys are equal to. Once I discover them I can most likely send them. One problem I can think of is that Multibox will want to broadcast the server's G keys binding as well as the single G press. unless you jsut wanted to broadcast teh G presses and nothing else.

anyways this is all theory until I get some time to actually test some stuff..

Alright so I did some initial testing and was unable to capture any of the g keys on the keyboard. I've searched around on the net and found people have done some really nifty things with the special keys on the keyboard with linux. Sadly I don't have enough time to figure out the catch to capturing them in windows environment.
