5 boxing FTL - having trouble with lshift vs rshift

I use shift as a modifier in my spells. This wasn't a problem with 3-boxing as I could use ctrl and alt to build an FTL system. However, with 5-boxing, I need to use the shift modifier.

I'm using Bartender 4, and I don't know if it can tell the difference between lshift and rshift. From what I understand, you can keybind in WoW and have it tell the difference between left and right shift, but I don't know how to do that. Any help?

My macros:

My macro works fine for Strong following Curiously, but Curiously will not follow Strong. I'm pretty sure that's because in order to target Strong the rshift cannot be pushed down (nomod:rshift).

When Curiously is supposed to follow Strong, the following is being sent by Hotkeynet:
<KeyUp RAlt LShift Z> completed

Everything is working properly from the HKN perspective, but since it's sending LShift Z (what the follow macro is keybound to) I think WoW is seeing that as shift, and not specifically left shift. Because of that the "nomod:rshift" is failing and the follow is not working.

Any suggestions?

I'm afraid of trying to troubleshooting this too far without asking the obvious question: is Shift+Z keybound to anything else for you?

If it is, then keybindings take priority over any macros, and the macro will never fire off. I'm talking from experience here, as I've had that issue before.

I'm not familiar with Hotkeynet and what the "KeyUp RAlt" means here.

EDIT: Keep in mind that keybindings in WOW itself do not detect left-right modifiers, so that if you keybind your walk/run button to LShift+P, it will record the binding as Shift+P. Only macros are smart enough to detect the difference, unfortunately.

Shift+Z is keybound to my follow macro. What I would like to happen is have Left Shift+Z to be keybound to my macro, so that the [nomod:rshift] is not violated. I thought I remembered others saying this is doable, but I'm not sure how.

I use Shift+button for many spells as it's a handy modifier that effecitvely doubles the amount of keybinds I can have within easy reach. This wasn't a problem with three boxing since ctrl and alt contain 3 combos. However, it is a problem with 5 boxing where I need to utilize ctrl, alt, and shift. I'm curious on how to do this (if it's possible).

This is the part I'm curious and asking about. I thought olipics, or someone else, stated that you could use lshift and rshift for macros instead of the generic shift. If you can, then I want to know how :)

That link suggests that it should work for keybindings too, which I have found is not the case. Or I'm just going blind.

I guess that's why I may be a little confused about what you're asking help with. It looks like your macros are fine, except the fact that one is not working correctly. Hence why I'm more concerned about other keybinds that may be interefering. :)

I'm currently using Bartender 4. The original question is how to do it with BT4. If it's not possible, then what addon should I use for my bar configuration (I hate the default)?

Heh, no worries. I need to check keybindings in the game too when I get home. I'm afraid when I look closer, that I'll see that the left-right modifiers on some of my bindings and prove myself wrong after reading that link myself. :P

EDIT: Checked on Friday after I got home and did confirm that in-game keybindings do not differentiate between lshift and rshift. Keybindings simply show up as "SHIFT+P". But the lshift and rshift work in macros.

Regarding Bartender, I'm afraid I'm at a loss again, as I don't use any real UI mods. My list is pretty short: Atlas, Decursive, Recount, Omen3, OneBag3/OneBank3, QuestHelper, Talented (the only UI mod, for talents).
