boxing pvp not what it used to be?

well its been a while since ive boxed, i dont even play on my hardcore laptop atm i just solo play on my little 13inch xps becuase its so much more portable. Ive been keeping tabs on the forum seeing how everyones doing and if people are trying anything new.

the main reason i didnt want to box anymore was how long it was going to take to get 70-80 on five+ characters, so i just leveled up my main and raided, now we are clearing all the content in 2 raid evenings and bored the rest of the week i decided to get back into boxing, as it was really my pvp outlet, pvp never feels the same solo, its great when you have your own army of people, and the whines on the battlegroup forums just makes it all worth it.

i have 2 main groups of 5 shaman and 5 hunters, then a few alt groups i was playing about with includeing a bunch of healers i used to throw into the mix, atm ive seen alot of people complaining about the state of pvp since wrath, can people please tell me honistly is it really that bad? i have to admit ive not seen a single boxer on my battlegroup since wrath.

what im really looking for in a response is how your doing, what your set up is, what your gear is like and anything else you wish to add.

Well.. it's a bit different now than what it was in TBC. I play the classic 4x elemental shaman, and we still dominate hugely in BGs.

The amount of hurt I can put out against a group of 5-10 enemies in a BG while still not dying, it's ridiculous. Lava burst and CL cooldown reduction gave us a very high killing capacity, as well as frequency against low-geared people.

And.. the elemental mastery change introduced something even more insane - when you pop both heroism and elemental mastery.. your killing capacity skyrockets and you can kill 1-2 people per second, it's truly magnificent. I have even started to challenge myself in how quickly I can wipe out groups of people. It has become somewhat of a sport to completely annhilate 10+ people that spawn at an EOTS tower.



BUT.. If you are aiming to do arenas well, you are in for a long and tough journey. Your gear needs to be top-notch and highly defensive or you will get stomped even by scrubs with no coordination.

ive never had arena as a goal with boxing, some people can do it very well, but me i just have never liked it, not solo not boxing just hate what arena did to pvp,

with a pretty well geared DK was planning on just takeing 4 shaman with me to 80 rather than 5, so that i could farm heroics for badges turn them in for savage gear,

battlegrounds is what i love and thats where i have the most fun, so if your saying that we can still do pretty well i think ill start seriously consider getting the group up to scratch, i dont think i would try anything too serious pvp wise till i was above the 500 res mark and a titansteel mace on each shaman.

how long should i expect the 70-80 to take, i did it in about 6-8 hours per level on my dk, i was really takeing my time with no guides or prior knowledge of the content did take alot longer than when burning crusade came out, i was also thinking rather than quest just to instance grind, questing would be great if it wasnt for the collection quests and there is just so many in wrath it was the biggest put off.

I think it took me about 2 weeks with 4-5 hours played each day, but it takes ALOT longer then what a singel player use thats for sure.

My main problems were that i had to wait for npc's to spawn in the start wich brought down my leveling time ALOT. Looks alot better now that everyone is done leveling and most even have passed my second team on theyr DK alts! :P

Never understood what made DK's so popular (apart from starting at lvl 55 and death grip) the class is the most boring meele classes in the game, but as i said i DO assume alot do it for death grip wich is cool enough. My warrior is faster and charge/intercept just feels ALOT better, while my rogue is SO awsome with all the cc,stealth and general control. (i left out retadins and ferals since i never realy played them other then resto/holy)

PvP is totally changed now. It is not the same for anyone including people that box.

The fact that some noob that just dinged 80 can hop in a tank and destroy everyone has completly turned me off to pvp. I liked it at first but now it's the same old BG crap with a 12 year old in a tank pew pew everyone and your team saying how much each other sucks.

So I started to raid.

Raiding is easy mode. There is no challenge to it at all. I have everyone on 2 buttons and i just sit in the back spamming 1 and 2 while watcing a movie. The only hard part is when other people don't listen and you have to adjust for their lack of skills (pressing 1 and 2) while on a boss fight.

Arena? Ha! Totally broken and why bother when you can raid and get the same gear!

There is NO SKILL in this game at all now. I find myself logging in just to chat with friends now. What used to be a skil based game is now a race to spam the 1 or 2 button. I find no challenge at all anymore in wow.

I am about ready to stop playing.

It's offical, WoW is a carebear game now!

Raiding is indeed alot easier but closing 95% out from the end raid content server nobody but the last 5% egos who could show off.

Im not sure what you mean by people "owning" in tanks because 50k hp with 0 resillience is pretty much what druids have theese days and they do realy not hit THAT hard. Tanks are fragile and i never die to them anymore and i dont lose SOTA unless the rest of the people in it is down on the beach getting a tan.

I have no idea what your playing but getting up on the arena ratings with 4 shamans sure is a challenge.

My best try on the 4 horsemen were 15% back in the azeroth days and is considered to be one of the hardest encounters during wow. The hard part wasnt realy the encounter itself but the requirments wich were:

8 tanks with the extremley good tank gear.. Now normally we had 1 main tank and 2 off tanks were 1 was good enough geared to main tank, for this encounter we suddenly needed 5 more tanks with GOOD gear and we had to do the encounter with another guild.

Most of the naxx encounters wasnt hard at all, the hard part was getting geared people.

On my old server wich held the best progressing guild in the world (Forte with 12 out of 15 first kills in Naxx) there wasnt a singel pug for mc,bwl or aq 40. We pugged aq 20 and ZG for a while but it was VERY late and right before TBC.

How the hell was normal players without a guild suposed to get good enough gear to actually join a guild? The cenarion epic ring required 100+ hours alone to get..

During this time Blizzard have realised that they do not earn money or make people by satisfying the hardcore player base.. So they will leave? Well its far better for Blizzard then seeing the rest of the 95% player base leave.

DKs aren't boring imo. They have a good rotation which relies on both melee and spells. They also have numerous specs and play styles.

A combat rogue 5x SS then evis is my idea of boring.

Pvp will get better when we get access to better pvp gear. So we will be able to get more resil and survive easier. once that happens we will be able to put out more hurt without having to spam self heal.

WoW is a kids game when it comes to levling and pve.

Multiboxing and making it in arena requires Skillz so if thats what ya want thats where you should be. It is not impossible there are those who are making it. And its no longer due to instant CL +a shock , wait coooldown and get next anymore.

So drop the crocodile tears and go to work :)

*PS im not in any way claiming to be any skiled in arena but i refuse to give up and ill keep working on it.Since that is where i find the most challenge in the game atm.

with the comment of pve being too easy (unless your talking about heroics) i have to disagree, alot of the 25 man encounters are still fairly challengeing, disagree? try sarth 3D

when we really look at the 'new' pve raid content all we have is malygos and sarth, naxx has just been retuned old content for 10 and 25 man raids, so ofc things like 4hm are going to be trivial compared to the old 40 man version, but i wouldnt dismiss this as an easy fight, you can do the fight the easy way, or you can go for the achivement to bring all 4hm down in 15 seconds of each other. what blizzard have done is very clever and have moved more game challenge towards getting the hard/impossible achivements, and at the same time keeping the gear avaible to everyone (not everyone but alot more people are going to have a better chance at seeing the end of naxx than the amount of people who saw the end of kara pre nerfs), smart move imo gear is now a tool rather than a reward the real rewards are now the achivements.

as for death knights, i dont find them boring at 80 at all, ive tried paladins, druids and rogues at end level and have to say ive never had so much fun with a melee class. you just need to pay alot more attension when it comes to doing things, for example you dont want to be wasteing runes putting up a disease twice by mistake or it will totally thow off your rotation for the next 10 seconds waiting for runes to reactivate.

thanks for the input i think ill start hammering out those levels little by little till i get to 80, not going to just do nothing but, as ive been really burnt out on level this way and just ditch the toon at 70.

I didnt mean that boxing 4-5 is boring since i never done it but i mean the class itself even if i got all runes up and never do have down time it just feels boring..

But i mean it in the way DK's are.. They can burst fairly well but not like a rogue and i hate all the damage migation, as it just feels lame! People feel different about classes anyway but to me DK's was the big disapointment with WOTLK.
