random game freezes need help

hi guyz maybe this shouldnt be posted here, but would like to know boxers experience, i have 8800 gtx leadteak vga, when i play wow i get game freezes randomly, screen will freeze with random colored dots in my moniter, when i restart the bios logo for vga wont even show properly, its like some wierd typing. i shut down pc for a while and everything might or might not go fine i monitored the temp it was around 60-65c which i read is normal for the gtx, i switched vga with my other pc, 8800 gt i still get game freezes but this time no colored dots or anything if i can just trace the problem ;(

I would honestly say its a problem with the hardware of the video card, I thought I had problems with my 8800GTS over the weekend, but phew it didnt die on me... lol

am in state of confusion right now, someone said it might be addons, now if its a hardware, how would i know which piece of hardware so i can throw out of the window ;(

fan is working am 100% sure, coz i can hear it :(
and there are 2 vga's i currently used both have freeze problems
my game window blinks at random intervals, 10-30 min, the blin is just a very quick blink but i can notice it current gpu temp is 38C running one client
seriously those tech problems make playing a nightmare experience, u know its there u just dont know when it will happen ;(

am gonna give this memory test a go

check to see what your ingame fps is and then do a

/console maxfps #

where # is about 5 fps lower then the fps you're getting.

imo something screwed up with the last patch with some videocards that run the game at max potential, slightly lowering it down might remove the glitches (if this is the problem you have).

The other thing is a busted videocard or memory or motherboard or ugh, could be many things. But try this first and memory tests. :p

thanx, ill do that and see how it goes, been digging around last night and seems so many unhappy fellow players experiencing random crashes , and wut i noticed in common they all have Nvidia, funny thing i was considering an upgrade few days ago, but this whole thing makes me frustrated, i dont wanna spent big money on some pc, that ill be having a hard time with.

on a side note if someone have a Very stable setup please am open for suggestions, i been boxing with my current since around 8 months now and i only had this problem recently after wotlk

Most of the recent videocard problems aren't because nvidia is bad. But because programmers of WoW seems to have messed things up. I myself am experiencing heavy stuttering since the last patch if I try to play at the FPS I used to play, so had to downtune it to play. And I know this has helped others as well with similar issues. :p

I'd not worry about having nvidia though. They're still leading imo.

I had some problems like that in the past. Over time I had to replace my power supply, my motherboard and my video card. Was nuts. All were good name brands too (Antec, DFI and XFX).

It's very frustrating trying to narrow down the problem. Does it happen when you use Office apps or surf the web? or games only? WoW only?

It really sounds like a hardware problem though, but it's often hard to diagnose. Typically I just buy a new PC :P and eventually fix my old one. I have too many computers under my desk atm. They all run wow fine though!!
