Simple question - my spec is down to choosing between these 2 talents - 2 points into improved fire nova totem or 2 points into the talent to improve flametongue weapon which is ~42.2 spellpower increase (x4). I hardly ever use fire nova totem and i dont pvp but im still thinking of getting it - just not sure yet - any input on these 2?
For pve i would def take flametoung but the fire now stun is handy in a few cases.
Since you have 4 elemental shamans?
Put one point in each.
Now each shaman got a 50% chance to stun with the totem and my guess would be that the cases were non gets the stun proc would be very rare.

Even better do one shaman with nova talent and the others with flametongue, you'll be getting guaranteed stun and more total bonus spelldmg
IMO, one point in imp fire nova totem is a waste. It's one of those all or nothing things. If you're dropping these for stuns, you want to be sure to stun.
If I had to choose, I'd probably go with imp fire nova. I have this on all 4, and with round-robin, it's around 8 sec of stuns on EVERYTHING. This can be a big saver of a bad situation.
I don't think theres really a pve situation that warrants needing this. And I really don't want to waste time dropping round robin fire nova totems in PvE as the drop in dps would be astounding.
Dimishing returns will negate most of the 8 secs. Think its 2 secs, 1 sec and .5 sec then full immune.Quote:

the improved flametonge is a must but the improve fire nova is really nice.
I never used nova's either until I got a pally added to my team.
now I can round up with the pally and drop a concecrate + nova's and watch it blow up stuff.
in pvp, it's a nice panic button to stun targets, they do huge damage and anything not killed is stunned.
