It looks like you can grant 40 levels through RAF, not 30

Thought a 50 pally was going to have to be done the hard way since I had already spent all my granting on getting a druid from 30-60. When I initially granted the levels the granting account only had a level 60 and the granting option was no longer available. I have now leveled the granting toon to 80 and started working on the 50 pally (thought it was going to be done the "hard" way with no RAF or granting). To my surprise I found that the grant a level was available again and I was able to grant up to 60! I'm pretty sure I was able to grant 40 levels instead of only 30!

The level granting used to stop at 60 which is why you could only grant 29 levels (level 2 to 60 = 59 levels / 2 levels per 1 granted -> rounded down = 29). Did they lift the restriction so that it calculates all the way to 80 now? If that is the case then that is awesome since it means you can gift 39 levels instead of 29 :) That would make me want to get some new accounts to get RAF again.

It sure seems like it, though it would be better if someone could test it out. They would need to have used all 29 grants and leveled to at least 62 to see if a new level can be granted. I could be wrong, but I believe I used all my grants and now have more available. When I dinged 60 I gave a druid about 10 levels to get to 60 and then didn't want to waste any of the grants so I took a 30 pally to 50). The grant a level was no longer available and I never revisited it until last night. Now that my main is 80 I was able to grant the pally up to 60 (from 52).

are you sure you just didnt have any unused grantable levels to give lying around?

No, I'm not sure and I hope someone can test this out. If I was you then I wouldn't trust me saying this as I may just be misremembering how many levels I used up before, but what I know I remember for certain is:

1.) I used a few levels to get a druid up to 60 (used at least 6)
2.) I used the remaining levels to get a pally to 50 (I believe I used 20 levels as the pally started at 30)
3.) At the time I was level 60 and could not boost the pally above 50. It seemed as if I ran out of levels to grant as the option was now gray.
4.) Now that I am 80 I am able to boost the pally from 52 to 60

I just mass dumped all my RAF levels a couple of days ago. They did not go out peace meal over time. My time was running out and I had them all to distribute. My level 80 characters were only able to grant the expected 29 levels you picked up 1-60. I know I never gave out any levels until a few days ago and burned each character in turn all at once. 29 from each is all I got.

Blizzard had some issues with granting levels a few weeks ago, some sort of wipe or whatever, so its simply possible that you "got" extra levels when they wiped the database and restored it.

Don't forget you still get a free level to grant on the new toon when you grant 2 levels. So, maybe you just used them from a different toon?

example:

starting at L31, grant to 60. The new 60 can also grant 29 levels, and so on... At least, I am pretty sure that is the case because I didn't know this until close to the end of my RAF and ended up wasting a bunch of granted levels.
