I've spent a lot of time reading this site before ever signing up. I have 2 Unholy DKs that just hit lvl 71. Leveling have been ridiculously easy. Thanks to all the contributors and posters. It has been and still is a blast.
With 2handers and ghouls they just mow down anything from 4-6 mobs 1-2 lvls higher to elites and players 2-3 levels higher without much trouble in Northrend quest greens. My setup is pretty simple using 2 pcs. I use HotKeyNet to send keys 1-5 (and modifiers) to other pc for follow/assist, skill rotation, etc macros. Also the numpad on the main PC is mapped for individual skills in case I need to get in a quick Death Strike or Rune Strike or to call the gargyole. DPS is a steady 60%/40% split while questing.
Now I'm wondering what they can really do. With practice, I see PvP in my future. But can I run instances and still be viable taking up 2 dps slots? Would I be more viable as a tank with BringMyOwn-DPS and PUG for the rest? I think I have seen some YouTube of lvl 80 DKs soloing some outland instances...not sure. Since I joined WOW after BC came out, I really haven't done any of the pre-BC stuff. How far could 2 level 80 DKs go? to ZulGurub? Kara? BT? 8|
Anyone else doing only 2 DKs?
What you can do depends on how good you are, not just level and gear.
This is multi-boxing - give stuff a try, and if you fail, figure out how to make it work. :)
When you hit 80 and get some decent gear, go hit up Ramparts, and start working your way up the instance ladder. Make your first goal getting all the keys, which requires honored with the appropriate rep, which is easy.
Don't worry about Black Temple, it's doubtful that's dual-boxable at 80, unless you're full T7/8 - even then, maybe. Kara is probably as high as you can go, and that will be a challenge for you that will keep you busy a while. Practice for it with the lower level dungeons. You can probably handle Ramps and Blood Furnace half asleep, Heroic is a little more a challenge.
You can pug, some players join groups with two, and get away with it. I group with my 3 once in a while, and nobody ever complains that I'm the only one talking - since we're all guilded, they probably think we're talking in guild chat. :)
Nobody talks in PUGs anymore, anyway. Go for it. :)
