People still manage to surprise me...
So, I'm cruising around Icecrown finshing my zone achievement when I run into this guy.
Him: That's an odd group you have there.
Me: How so?
<pause>
Him: I'm afraid I'm going to have to report you.
Me: Knock yourself out - multiboxing is perfectly legal :-)
Nothing out of the ordinary, except that this time, I get another tell from him about an hour later:
Him: I'm sorry about the reporting thing, I researched it and it turns out that your multiboxing is actually not against the rules. Just wanted to apologize.
I was shocked - an apology! I was getting so used to the hate that I actually was surprised of someone behaving properly, I think we tend to notice the haters because they're much easier to see, but it was pleasant to see decent behavior! :-)
i had someone follow me in Sholazar Basin
one day someone starting following me in Shalazar Basin and starting skinning all of my kills.
they never said anything and I was going to give up on a collection quest when I decided to show off for the skinner.
So I stayed and finished the collection quest on all of my toons letting this guy skin everything.
He never said anything to me and I never said anything to him.
The next day he sends me a tell apologizing for stealing my skins, he said he did it because he though I was cheating and he had read up on it and found I wasn't cheating.
I said back, "lol, i just through you were a fellow player that needed skins and I was happy to help"
Booted from guild mid Raid for boxing :(
I joined my brother's guild the other night, after he had a chat with the guild leader. The guy seemed very interested in the prospect and was keen himself in starting up his own team. Naturally i pointed him the direction of this site. :)
So the decision was made for a fun run of AQ for the achievment, and my bro gets me a spot with all four of my shammys. We're about half way through and im suddenly removed from the guild and booted from the raid. I /w the guild leader asking him why he had removed me and he replies saying that some of the guildies had told him that I was a hacker/bot.
No a very good experience to say the least, and the ignorance of some people amazes me, especially as I had already pointed him this way!
Generally on my server (Chamber of Aspects, EU), i'm met with well informed people who know exactly what it is i'm doing but I guess some idiots do slip through the net...

The problem with any raid guild I've been in is that some of the people are the most insufferably annoying people who ever lived, and then those people whine and cause drama which leads to what happened to you. I also got flamed in the same way for being a boxer. Not even for boxing in a raid, but just for being one. I'm happier in my own one-man guild. There aren't any other people to talk to, but all you do is load up dual-boxing.com while you play and you pretty much found a better replacement for /g.

That sounds like someone who thought he saw someone cheating and decided to do something about it, as opposed to someone who is rabidly anti-multiboxing and just being a douchebag. I agree that it's both rare and refreshing to find someone who shows both restraint and the willingness to follow up when he learned that he was mistaken. Games like this are better off with people like him playing.
That player took a very different approach than the one that Svpernova09 described. If you want to report me, report me. But if you intend to lecture me or be an asshole before you understand the facts, don't expect me to be cheerful about it when you realize you jumped into the deep end before you checked for water. As someone who makes an effort to treat other players maturely and with respect under almost any circumstance, I think I've got the right to expect other players to return the favor, as well as the prerogative to not be understanding when they cross that line. You could've saved yourself an apology by not being a prick in the first place.

From what I've seen, this is for two reasons:
Raid spots
and
Loot
They'll babble forever about other reasons, but that's what it boils down to. These issues also effect solo players too - can't get a rogue into a guild because you threaten the existing rogues for raid spots and drops.
Not all guilds are like that, however. I've been in a few that kept the drama to a minimum, believe it or not. I was in one shortly before I started MBing, through a friend's referral, and when she quit, I did too, because I'd only been in the guild two weeks, and did'nt know anyone, and while they did'nt ask me to quit...I just quit to make things easier, in case there were issues. I regret that now, I saw their main healer the other day in Dalaran, and armoried the guild, and they're all still there - and the guild is about twice the size they were then (300+). I'm thinking about whispering her the next time I see her, and see if I can get one of my guys an invite. They had *fun* in that guild - we went on a Mana Tombs run (with said healer) where we laughed so much we never finished, we just sat in the middle laughing until it got too late to finish!
