Anyone got suggestions on this? Even with the trash?
I'm not sure where to stand and really what I should be doing. I never ran normal Violet hold, but it reminds me of Black Morass all over again which I hated.

I drop totems in middle and just follow my tank around for mini bosses. Remember the packs that spawn 3-4 guys all run towards the entrance, so you don't need to fight them near the portal. Only the guardians should be fought near the portal, and always have consecrate down so it aggros any spawns - the spawns have trivial Hp and die usually with a chain lightning/consecrate. Most importantly, drink whenever you can -- you always wanna be full mana. I usually consume a full stack of mage food.
The bosses suck, no question. The bird boss is easy, just DPS the boss and ignore the adds until the boss is dead -- tank n spank. The doggy boss is easy too, tank'n'spank and move out of the fires.
The voidwalker boss, you are supposed to purge/dispell/steal his buff (gets it a lot), and he targets a single person and only they can DPS the adds. A warrior tank can spell reflect all the bolts, and the entire group can just DPS the boss. Its a easy boss when you go in solo, but as a multiboxer I've found it crazy hard (no good way to DPS the adds since only 1 person can target em).
The water boss is also crazy hard, one strat is to pull the red switches every time he "splits up" but I just can't do this by myself, they are too spread apart and just running from one to the other ends up with a few people dead. No clue what to do on him in heroic.
The ethereal boss is supposed to be kited along the top, across left to right, but dunno how feasible it is alone (only done it in a pug and I was tank, was easy). You just have to kite him so the adds don't come close and the boss is out of LoS of the adds.
Last boss is very simple too, just move out of blizzard, dispell the magic effect, and pew pew pew (move when teleported out of head/tail).
Disclaimer: I've only tried this a couple times on heroic and only seen the last boss once. If I wipe after the first boss, generally on the second boss, I leave. Any instance that takes a complete reset on a wipe is bad design in my opinion.
I find the water elemental easier on heroic than I did on regular but I'm pretty well geared now. Anyhow, I run my whole crew up the stairs towards the entrance and park my shammies just to the right and back them up to the little ledge so they don't get thrown and then tank the elemental in the doorway. My macro on my tank includes /startattack which will pick up the closest target while spamming the key. Some of the little elementals I get, some I don't, but it works pretty well in the end.
The voidwalker boss I've only gotten once and just tried to dps race him. It was going well but he got the best of me and I haven't seen him since. I think at the right gear level this is possible though.
I agree the core hound boss is pretty easy.
The ethereal boss also gets me. I do pretty well on her till she or the ethereals (not sure which) summons to the middle of the room then I'm done.
tried this again the other day. Water elemental boss, wtf am I doing wrong? I dps him and he disappears, then I cant kill the elementals fast enough and then hes back. I killed him but it took 8 minutes!! When he died there were dragons opening portals already and more adds. I ended up wiping after boss when I had 10 dragonkin on my tank or something like that. At least I looted boss before I got overwhelmed. First boss was corehound and he was cake. Ah damnit, now that I think of it I could have hit the torch to wipe all the extra shit.
As for the water elemental. I've only done him on normal, so I don't know if anything is different on hero. On normal you do not need to damage the boss itself at the beginning. Just hit it 30 times with something and it will explode. After that you just have to kill some of the spawns. The more you kill the less hp the boss will have after he comes back. So, it's not really a race to kill all small ones at once or something like that. If you can heal through the ae dmg you can take him down slowly. Although, as you noticed yourself, you should still be able to down him before the next waves come :)Quote:
