Tried UK again tonight with my new DK tank and 4 shamans and failed miserably
Of course this is really my first instance attempting to box with an actual tank. Prior to this I was running 5 shamans. I was having severe issues in UK with my 5 shamans (crappy stats, 600 sp damage 7500hp 7k mana). Anyway, DKs came out and I really wanted to try one, and I loved it, so I made it my new main and have been leading my shamans around.
My DK has the full cobalt level 70 crafted set. This gives her 12,400hp and 14k armor, 16% dodge, 14.5% parry, ~475 defense. Not bad starting I think.
Anyway, heres what I've discovered. Trash is RIDICULOUSLY easy now. 4 mob pulls? No issue at all. Protodrakes and handlers? Make me laugh.
What else I've discovered? Keleseth is hard as balls. I wiped on him 9 times before giving up (albeit twice was because I accidentally pulled him).
I still just can't get the hang of killing him. His shadow bolts do RIDICULOUS damage to my DK. I can heal through it, but then my guys start getting frost tombed and its downhill from there. First I tried a macro to nuke them which didn't work very well. Then I tried thunderstorming which didn'twork good either. I then tried fire nova totems which worked ok except they ended up being on cooldown after that the next time I needed them.
Oddly enough I was able to get keleseth much lower with 5 shamans than 1DK/4 shamans. Best with DK/Sham is 45% or so. On 5 shamans I got him down to ~15%.
Anyway maybe I'm just going about it the wrong way. Does Magma totem clear up the frost tombs? I was thinking of trying the "rush in method". Just dive bomb him with my DK with all 4 shamans on autofollow. Once I get in front of him, drop all my totems while I start pulling aggro, pop bloodlust/ele mastery/blood fury/trinket on my shamans, and then start nuking the hell out of him as fast as I can without worrying about holding aggro on my DK. Once adds start coming in I could use a death and decay just to make sure they all attacked my DK while I was using chain lightning on the boss to kill them.
Oddly enough I just specced out of AMZ because I needed some other talents and I have a feeling that anti magic bubbling my party would work really good to DPS this boss for an extra 5-6 seconds without worrying about healing at all.
Should I drop 4 fire elementals instead? Will those kill the frost tombs and the adds? Any other advice? I never really got any closer to killing him even after the 8th and 9th try so I'm at a loss right now :(
