I have a dumb question. Would a single SLI card work in a mobo built for Crossfire? Specifically, would the MSI N260GTX work in a Asus P5E Deluxe?
A card's ability to be used in an SLI configuration does nothing regarding its use as a single card.
Crossfire did some weird stuff a while back with master and slave cards, etc...forget about that, it has nothing to do with nVidia. Or present Crossfire setups for that matter, I believe.
So you would feel comfortable popping that graphics card into that motherboard?
edit: Took me awhile but I found a few other forum posts on Tom's Hardware asking the same question. Thanks algol ^^ It seems SLI/Crossfire only matter when more than one card is involved.
Exactly, other than those previously mentioned older Crossfire cards. SLI is just a feature of the card, which you may or may not make use of, which in no way interferes with its use as a normal single card.Quote:
