So my classes are Druid/Pally/Rogue/Shaman/Mage. I know i know its kinda mixed, but its just what i decided on. My question is for you guys that have ran 5 mans, non-heroic. At the current state of things, my pally and druid have comparable gear, greens and blues no epics. Which would you have tank, and which would you have heal (specs would be adjusted appropriately)?
I have a 70 lock i can switch em out with, but ive played a rogue since day 1... theyre just my favorite. As far as synergy goes though, i understand what your saying there.
Pally tank and I would go with a resto shaman.
I don't have experience of healing with either (I have a 69 druid and a 70 shaman) but my gut says the shaman might be better for a boxer.
I think a lot of the druids healing is heal over time, so takes a bit of preparation to heal a target. e.g Lifebloom x 3 on the tank and refreshing it.
I know it does have quite a quick heal with heal over time component and a full long heal, but for me the shamans quick lesser healing wave to buy enough time for a full heal might pip it. Not to meantion the earth shield, and natures swiftness big heal for emergencies. Then of course there's a multitarget chain heal (whcih could also make use of natures swiftness).
[EDIT: Whoops, doesn't a druid have nature's swiftness too?]
I'm sure the druid could work - tranquility is amazing but on a long cooldown.
The druid I would spec balance.
I would definitely swap out the rogue for the lock. Easier to multibox - but I don't know if you've been multiboxing successfully with the pally and rogue - in which case keep him.
I agree with others - prot pally, resto shaman, balance druid. Of the 3 I think shaman is easiest for multibox healing. Druid or pally both viable for tanking, but if you tanked with the druid and healed with shaman what would the pally do :)?
I have 1 pally, 2 sham, 2 mage group but I use my druid for tanking currently in place of one mage - only because he's fully badge geared for it. I'm dragging my prot pally along to gear him up, after which I'll switch to pally tank and either not use my druid, or use him as balance.
I agree with the previous posters, but I'd like to touch on something that hasn't been said yet. Prot pally, resto shaman, balance druid provide the best pve synergy. If you can drop the rogue for a warlock you'd have a 5 man that would provide, argueably, the best spell damage synergy that you can get out of a 5 man.

Wow, good info from all of you , thank you. Over the past month ive learned good positioning with the pally/rogue while 3 boxing with the druid as feral (3 melee total). But have since been amazed at the ease of using casters and not having to worry about position nearly half as much. My initial goal on moving from 3 boxing to 5 boxing was to be able to run my own 5 mans, and eventually conquer them all ( non-heroic first ). Im going to toss that lock in there in place of the rogue as suggested. I love the rogue, but as far as accomplishing my goals, overall i want that more. Appreciate the info guys, thanks!
Casters are easier to control than melee classes, but hey, it doesn't mean that it's not possible to run 5-mans with melees. I haven't tried heroics yet, but so far I haven't had any troubles with my two groups, where one contains a retribution paladin and an arms warrior, and the other a rogue and a feral druid.Quote:

It's actually easier to control the rogue than the paladin and the warrior since he has a faster attack. If he's following the tank he'll stop as soon as he hits a target. The paladin and warrior with their long attack cycles might miss the target and run just through it, so usually I have to park them at an appropriate spot and bring the target in front of them with the tank.
So, choose casters if you want an easy ride, and the rogue if you want a fun challenge.
I'm running a simular setup soon, currently have 60 mage shaman and paladin I'm gonna level up to 70 (or close atleast) then join with my 70 druid and hunter. So I got a hunter instead of your rogue, I got it easy, you got the challange :) ye, I would love to try that challange.
Anywho, I agree with what peaple here are saying, what would probably work out best is paladin for tank and shaman for heal. The way I do it, and atm it's going realy well :) attempted to dual ramps, at 60, but died when I came to 2 casters =/ anyways, got my mage on the third acc now and just waiting for those damn servers to get back up, then I'll hopefully 3man it :) and damn I whon't give up easy :D
And for the note, I tryed to dual with my 70 feraldruid (blues and 1 or 2 epixx) and the 60 restoshaman in ramps, and it went impresivly easy =) whiped twice, first was becous autohotkey had turned of brodcasting without me noticing, so didn't get any heals in a too big pull (that dog dud before first boss + 4 moobs and the dogs, I think) so I slowly died. Secound whipe was when I accidently pulled first boss together with a pull, resulting in me figthing the first pack of 4 + boss with his 2 healers + another 4 pack. It looked veary well, until my shaman pulled agro, and me not being feraltank for 5 months didn't find the mass taunt spell in time, so she had like 3% hp when I hit it, then shortly after getting hit by aoe 0.1 sec before the healing wave landed on her =/ slooowly my druid died too. However, I got to kill 7 of the 8 in the pacs :D rest was a walk in the park. Tank and spank all pacs, first boss just killing healers, stunning when they try heal, secound just tank and spank basicly, jump on the dogs when they spown (they take 3 hits from the druid) and make sure not to stand too close so the curse wasn't even noticable. Last boss was a bit worse, keeping an eye out for the fires, but just looking back and forth between the screens every 2 sec and I managed to move and heal the shaman all the times :) 2 of 4 drops was usefull for the shaman even :D don't remember which. The 2 others became two small shards :)
A bit offtopic, but just felt like bragging about me succsefully multiboxing an instance in the right way, all controlled from the main window ^^

A small tip for you, for something I'm gonna try soon, is a melee team; feral druid tanking, retripala, enhshaman and the rogue :) sure, teh mage whon't be melee, and you whon't have healer, but the challange of this sounds awasome :D I'm gonna try with my druid pala and shaman atleast :)
Last note about which to do what: I belive trying them all is a good idea too. Maybe start out with what most say is best/easyest, but after a while try something new, tank with the druid and heal with the pala instead, or heal with druid and pala tank :) change is healthy, and then you might end up when trying one of those the "a-HA" and know exactly what to do, either becous it works out so well, or becous it's incredible fun :D

I've found that having my druid be the healer works extremely well. The new AoE heal hits the entire dps team, so it works wonderful vs aoe style attacks on the back group. Rolling HoTs on the tank does a great job healing, and you can cast Regrowth or Healing Touch for a monster sized heal. And at 80 we'll have Flourish as well.
Also, there's nothing like being able to roll a second HoT on the healer himself for boss fights where people get sacrificed and can't do anything. In that case the tank continues to get healed for up to 12 seconds, and the healer for 8 - which works unbelievably well for preventing problems in those situations. I'm assuming that a group with a resto shaman (and only a balance druid who could heal otherwise) that gets sacrificed would require the balance druid to stop blasting and start healing the resto shaman...
