Onyxia Achievement

Down'd Ony tonight Pally and 4xShams. So much easier than I remember it being so get your easy 10 achievement points. Tactics are basically like they were in the old days except there are 5 of you.

Phase 1 - Tank w/ back against the wall. Build aggro. Burn to Phase 2.

Phase 2 - Spread out Shams. Pally gathered whelps and shams burned them down. Burned down Ony with lbs.

Phase 3 - Pickup was the hardest part just like the old days. Tremor Totems to prevent fear into eggs. Back into position with Tanks' back to wall. Move shams to dps/healing range. More Tremor Totems. Once you get enough aggro finish burning her down.

You get instant cast Avenger's shield now don't you as prot pally? Can't be too hard with that nice instant threat boost. Or you talking about positioning?

Avenger's shield is instant cast.

And totally screwed me over in heroic mgt the first time I tanked it after the patch. I was so used to the cast time that I could start the cast so the shield would hit a pat right when I wanted it to. Well, I managed to get the pat and the group of 5 mobs near it thanks to the instacast shield. Won't make that mistake again!

Laf...ya...had that happen to me more than once since the patch. :)

I do onyxia all the time, the pick up when she lands in phase 3 can bug. Sometimes not all aggro wipes.

I've had multiple times that one shaman kept like 80k threat. I just position that shaman in tank pos anyhow and continue which works too however. Since you can easily tank as a shaman it shouldn't be a problem.

Someone should make a movie of this fight. It would be fun to watch. I'm too lazy to go down and take a shot at her.

In all honesty, it's very boring. ;P

Phase one is pewpewpew, phase two is kill some whelps, occasionally move to a side, dps Onyxia while doing a few chain heals on yoruself. (If you spread out you get much less dps in phase two, but I find it's easy to get through phase two mana wise while standing on top of each other dpsing and chainhealing.)

Phase three is the exact same as phase 1 with one difference, you get feared from time to time. Which really, isn't noticable with some tremors up. :P

I wouldn't mind frapsing it sometime, but in all honesty, it's nothing special. And a very tank and spank fight. :p

I haven't tested since 3.0.2 with the built in threat, but I was always under the impression that the threat wipe was NOT tied to the phase 2/3 transition but to the fireballs. When she hits you with a fireball during phase 2 your aggro is reset. So if 3 of your 4 shaman got hit before she lands, the 4th one will still have all the phase 1 aggro.
