Need help improving FPS
I'm currently dual boxing on 1 machine running XP32 with 2gig ram, AMD 4600 and a ATI 4870 vid card with all WoW video settings set to minimum except draw distance however I'm still getting terrible FPS, around 20 on my main usually with the alt set to run at 15.
Anyway to improve this as I usually run at around 60 at 1920x1200 with all settings on max when I'm just on my main
-
what happens if you set draw distance to minimum?
EDIT: Anyway, I doubt it's the problem .. since it's kind of a dramatic drop.
-
are the instances of wow running from separate folders or symbolic/junction linking?
what fps results do you get when you run both in 800x600 windows?
-
tried both from the same folder and from seperate folders and also both at 800x600, same result.
They're running on a single HDD if that makes a difference
-
single hd shouldn't matter - i run 4 from one hd.
the 2GB ram might be an issue - but you should be able to run 2 instances ok
have you tried updating the video card drivers? as the card you are running should run 4-5 ok
-
yup, fresh XP install about 1 month ago with all the latest drivers
-
Are you running 2 monitors on dual view? That can be a problem on XP as I understand.
-
24" for my main and 19" for the alt using the dual DVI out on the vid card

You didn't really answer my question. Are you using dual view or horizontal span? The search engine is your friend..
