Why not streamline the process little and forego all of the quests, go to the very first vendor you see, sell all your gear and mail the silver to yourself. In only a few short years you'll be able to purchase that shiny new epic mount you've had your eye on.

I can hardly believe anyone shared this strategy. Now Blizz will nerf all starting items to "no sell price" and I'll be screwed! Hadn't thought about the hunters getting the extra bag, though. What a brilliant tip!

Using this tactic the cost of mailing the money will exceed the money you actually have, in other words, you need to multibox it. You can have your mule hanging around, create 4 alts, sell their gear and give the money to the mule. Rinse and repeat. If you get your boxing set up right I am sure you can shave years of the time it would take you.
