When is the best time to start multiboxing?

I guess it's a very subjective question. When the idea first occurred to me about multi boxing it was that I could play two characters at once and level them up at the same and then once both were 60 (I didn't want to pay for BC on a second account) transfer the second account character over to my main account and dispose of/level another toon and repeat until the 30 day's of the second account were up so in the same time it took me to level one toon I would have two (bargain hey). My reasoning was that I just wanted 70's to play and didn't want to go through all the agonising pain of levelling 10 characters up to 70 (I really hate the 50-58 stretch) one at a time (don't get me wrong I enjoy playing my 5 current characters of varying levels but raiding is what really has me).

So I eventually got hold of my brothers account (with his permission of course) and set about playing two characters that were the same level with each other. This was only for a couple of hours but I really enjoyed being able to do quests that would have been doable but slightly annoying with a lot more easy due to the added fire power of a second toon.

So my question is in people's opinion when is the best time to start multi boxing under the current/near future trends and schemes?

With the current RAF program going on I would be able to start two new character (one on my main and one on new secondary account) and have them level quickly up to 60 and be able to grant levels to my current under level 60 characters on my current account (that is if I understand they way the RAF grant levels feature work's) so not only would I have two brand new 60's in a hell of a lot less time then if i had of levelled each one by it's self I would also be able to level my other characters via the grant level feature. Having said that WotLK is right around the corner (6 week's iirc) and that is likely to be a whole new ball game.

So should I start now, wait for 3.0/something other game development/patch or hold out for WotLK and see what the future holds (the idea of having two accounts fully active (BC/WotLK) and running is getting more appealing for the questing side of things as well as bg pvp and just the wider character selection options it opens up).

Thoughts, comments and suggestions are most welcome.

For me it went like this: I suddenly just got the facts about how to multybox right. I was reading and thinking about it and it just hit me: lets start ;) Running into another boxer on my server also helped but I had been playing with it with trials before.

You can wait for addons, patches, upgrades, updates, expensions.... but in the end it should be about having big time fun! And don't wait for the right time for fun... Just go and get it!
