Heroic Ramparts Weirdness (Final Boss)

So Monday evening I did a H-Ramps run, and everything went super smooth, using the usual 5-shammy-friendly tactics.

Tuesday after work, i head on down to do another, and as i'm fighting Nazan up in the air, he casts bellowing roar, wiping my group. Was not expecting it, as I had never seen him do it before, so I didn't have tremors down. Then i had to log for the evening.

Come back last night to do it again (heroic ramparts daily quest woot!), I figured maybe the bellowing roar was a proximity thing, so I stayed pretty much at max range when he was in the air. No problem, no bellowing roar. When he drops down i finish him off before he can get to me, at which point the rider promptly despawns. So i figure maybe the rider needs to enter combat, so i do it again, and as Nazan is running towards me, i mix in a CL volley to wake the rider up too. So I drop Nazan just as he reaches me with the aggroed rider now running towards me as well, at which point he despawns again.

Luckily the riding crop was lootable from the dragon, but of course I was missing out on the chest.

Anyone else have this happen to them? hopefully this was just a bugged instance and not some kind of stealth nerf to the encounter.

Yeah I noticed the same thing. Except for me both the rider and dragon despawned. At first I just thought they had patched it or something -- but I gave it another try and it worked fine. So I figured it was just some random glitch or something... only it happened again a few days ago. (would have been badge #60. figures. I had to go kill the first boss in mana tombs to get my cloak that night)

anyway, my only guess as to what I think seems to be the cause of them despawning is aggro'ing the rider before you've killed the dragon. The two times I had them despawn I had dropped my earth elementals (after the dragon lands) too close to the rider and had one run at him before I'd killed the dragon. Sounds like your chain lightning hit the rider before you killed the dragon.

Anyone else run into this problem? I've downed them a few times since and have just been more careful.

Yep, I made a post about this weeks ago. Its a known bug. Most of the time when they despawn they will respawn, but there were many times when they never respawned. The only repsonse a GM gave me was, zone out for a minimum of 30 minutes and attempt him again. Ofcause doing this results in ALL the trash repopping. So having to fight your way past all the trash AGAIN just to get to the last boss and then having him bug out YET AGAIN is rather frustrating.

Ok, this is really good to know. Looks like the opposite of what I suspected, i must have aggroed the rider before he died the first time as well then.

This 'zone out for 30min' or 'soft instance reset' thing is annoying where they give it as a needed fix.

Ever do the rend even and while fighting Gyth more Chromatic dragonkin and orcs show up? And when Gyth dies Rend doesn't dismount from Gyth? and then more waves of Chromatic dragons and orcs and then another Gyth, eventually resulting in OOM and multiple Gyth and no rend and the gates never opening for you?

Yeah, 'zone out for 30min' ...
