First off I'd like to thank the community for all the helpfull info and guides to multiboxing. It's really helped me get started. I've started with a 3box due to money and hardware limits and I'm trying to set up a nice screen set up with maximizer. Also I have the idea to use keyclones PiP options to switch screens a long with in game macros to effectively use 1 'main' window for which ever character I controll, but I'm running into an issue I hope you guys can help with.
Heres how I have my 1 monitor set up... also remember I'm poor, so even though all those guides kick ass I can't afford 2 nice monitors and and hardware to run effectivly them from 1 keyboard :p

the only problem I'm having is unfortunately when I press my hot key to switch my 'main' field with one of my others it messes with the resolution as you can see...

any ideas on how to correct this so that it doesn't skew my screen when I switch to another toon?

I take it you're referencing the keyclone PiP switch feature? If so, I'm sure Rob can square you away with that.

G'evening Shadow,
what resolution is your screen? i would recommend a 2 stack on the right with the remainder used for your main on the left
drop me the resolution (and your max resolution) and i'll see what i can come up with

My total resolution is 1680x1050. I'm definatly not opposed to using 2 on the right with the main on the left. I just want it to take up the whole screen for maximum visablity and for some reason addons seem to fit better on a 'wider' screen than a taller one. Most of the time when I'm playing wow I use the highest res I can which is 1600x1000 wide.. I think sorry at work atm so can't confirm. It'd just be nice to switch them out without skewing the screen. Not a big deal at the moment.. but I do plan to pvp and I would think switching between the 3 or when 1 dies would be vital in that aspect.
Thanks for the response :)

G'evening,
sorry about the slow response... new client eats the time.
check out this page... i put your layout on the bottom (1680x1050x1 3 regions)
http://solidice.com/keyclone/layouts/
let me know if that works (and post a screenie if you like it :D)
have a great night,
Rob

hi ! I'm also 3 boxing for now on a single laptop
my screen 1440x900
for now I have 1 1024x768 and 2 800x600 scaled down 1/2 (400x300)
is there a way to inject into wow a custom resolution (as I'm not sure what kind of scaling is done otherwise) ?
maybe have 2 450x450 squares and reminding 990x900 for main ? but can wow get those custom rez ?
thanks

in keyclone, on the maximizer layout panel, each region can specify the game resolution at the bottom under the PiP hotkey.
if you do not want your game screen to look squashed, make the region size, specified in the upper right (w,h), a multiple of the game resolution. personally, i make the game resolution the same as my biggest region... and i make my smaller regions multiples of that.
so... if my main region was 800x600 .. my smalls might be 400x300
if you need more info, please feel free to drop me a note.

Thank you for the reply. This is really more a WoW question but is there a way to tell WoW to use a custom resolution ; for instance 1000x1000 or 3000x1000 such as the field of view is bigger but the picture on screen isn't squished (ie the pixels are still squared instead of squished) ? (I hoped at some point 1:1 at the bottom of the drop down would do that but it doesn't ? (what does it do ?))

WoW custom resolution == game resolution
please re-read my response (and no, i've never tried messing around with 800x600 in a 1440x960 window)

What I'm asking is how to make wow custom resolution from within Maximizer (or outside)
I guess I will try editing config.wtf directly to see if that works when I get home

I will answer my own question: here is my config; which you have to manually edit in the keyclone.ini file as the custom rez UI doesn't exist (or seem to keep what you type in the drop down):
[regions]
count=3
region_name_00='main'
region_00=1,0,0,1125,900,0,0
region_pip_00=0,(122.0.0)
region_res_00=1125,900,1
region_name_01='wow2'
region_01=1,1125,0,1440,315,0,0
region_pip_01=0,(123.0.0)
region_res_01=630,630,0
region_name_02='wow3'
region_02=1,1125,315,1440,630,0,0
region_pip_02=0,(0.0.0)
region_res_02=630,630,1
the trick here is that if you set wow custom rez to 315x315 it is too small and gets reset to 800x600 but 800x600 doesn't scale well on a 315x315 square; so I double that value to 630x630 and that works fine
maybe an improvements on the maximizer config UI would be to have "1:2" instead of just "1:1" (and maybe some other ratios (or maybe it is really "2:1" ie wow gets 2x the pixels than real screen space)
Thanks for a cool tool !

you can type any resolution into the game resolution box... it just has to be in the same format...
ie: 800x600
notice the little x with the width and height on either side
so you could have typed 630x630 into the box
if you find yourself going to the ini file to make changes... let me know.
either there is another way, or i'll add one

Thx for the answers; somehow after I discovered setting it in the .ini I think I tried in the UI and it didn't work; but maybe I typed it wrong; it does show now fine in the UI so I guess it does work.
Another question: is there a way (like pressing some key during startup) to (temporarily) disable autostart of command ? (typically if I want to make a config change I want to start keyclone ; do setup; before commands start)
Thanks!
ps: I tried to send just a private message but got an error...

you don't have to use the auto-start for commands.
most people just put the commands in the command area on the main keyclone screen, to the right of the connect button
