View Full Version : Macros to acquire targets for your clones when your main dies.
I just finished getting my 5x Shaman to 70 yesterday and started doing some Arena and AV. Obviously i have a lot of kinks to work out because pvp isn't nearly as relaxed as grinding out instances etc. My biggest issue so far has been working out a good way to assist with my clones after my main dies. Currently i make my main the focus for all my clones and have all their spell macros written to be "/cast [target=focustarget]" etc... which worked fine in instances but i am struggling with how to make this fit when my main / focus dies. Any input / incite would be greatly appreciated.

I just use
/assist [target=main, nodead] [target=secondary1, nodead] [target=secondary2, nodead], etc.
If you do it that way it will take actual names of chars in the parameters? so a sample macro would look like this
/assist [target=frakture, nodead] [target=fraktures, nodead] etc...
/cast Lightning Bolt
all in one macro? do you do that for each spell or do you have an assist button that you mash constantly and then don't macro your spells at all?

In this thread is a pretty good solution for changing leaders instantly. (simply jump to the 2nd post)

If you want more control over which ones get leader and when, go get the BindPad addon, then add a new hotkey for each toon that switches focus to the new leader. Works great for me.

I use this macro for my follow command.
/clearfocus
/focus [target=toon1, exists, nodead][target=toon2, exists, nodead][target=toon3, exists, nodead][target=toon4 , exists, nodead]
/assist focus
/follow focus
This is my normal follow command, and it allows me to switch to whoever is still alive as the next main.

Would anyone have something like I'm suggesting already?

Maybe you could do something like this? no idea if it'd work...
/focus [focus=party3] party2 [focus=party4] party3; [focus=party5] party4;
I'm going to switch everything over soon so I just have 5 buttons to set my focus... as even with an addon to help me figure out who's leading (see my sig)... I could decide who to make lead, and make them leader faster than I can figure out who a macro just automatically made leader.

EDIT
: when i try to format this to a chart style it keeps screwing it up so its hard to read...
I have 4 macros for each character i box to make anyone of them the "focus" or leader
Each one is bound to F1-F4 and heres what each one does
Main leader Clone 1 clone 3 Clone 4
F1 - /clearfocus F1= /targetexact=main F1 /TargetExact=main F1= /targetexact=main
/focus /focus /focus /focus
F2= /targetexact=clone1 F2=/clearfocus F2= /targetexact=clone2 F2=/targetexact=clone2
/focus /focus /focus /focus
F3= /targetexact=clone3 F3=/targetexact=clone3 F3= /clearfocus F3= /targetexact clone3
/focus /focus /focus /focus
F4 = /targetexact=clone4 F4= /targetexact=clone 4 F4= /targetexact=clone4 F4= /clearfocus
/focus /focus /focus /focus
I have keyclones maximize PiP to switch the clones to the main window with each F key i press to make whatever clone the new leader.
All my other macros have /assist [target=focus] or /follow focus or /cast [target=focus] healing wave etc... its worked flawless for me specially since i use Xperl cause it has a unit frame of who your focus is so you always know
