Would a paladin/mage combo work?

I was thinking today of getting a 2nd account (again) since I sold my other one. I was thinking of class combos, and what I haven't seen anyone do (as far as I know) is a Paladin and Mage. Would this maybe speed up leveling if the paladin was prot/holy, and the mage was aoe spec? So the paladin could get all the aggro, and have the mage aoe?

tested it yesterday with a friend of mine.

he has got a mage and learned arcane explosion.
I was just standing behing him with the finger hammering the holy light (heal) key.

is working very good but it gets boring after some time.

you can't aoe mobs from 1-70 :)
