why do you wear staves instead of 1h+shield?

I have been trying to focus on burst damage (ie: stacking up on spell damage) and when i got my hands on the recipe for Hammer of Righteous Might (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=32854), i figured it would be a great weapon as it has a nice chunk of intellect, spell damage and stamina which you dont see very often on weapons. So i made five of them and i have used them ever since.

Lets say that i want to switch to shield and 1h, what would you guys recommend? I dont do pvp or raids and i havent made the transition to heroic instances yet, so any recommendations should be reputation gear or drops in normal instances.

It's pretty much what I would until I could get the 150 badge dagger and the Mathoril Honor Shield from badges. I started doing heroics w/ the shaman crew when I had S1 everything (I did do pvp).

Honestly, I'm impressed you made 30 primal mights (or bought them) to make those 2 handed weapons :)

For shields the first thing that I got was the 33 badge shield. You should be able to go into Slave pens and do the first boss easily. I killed him the first night I dinged 70 without all the pvp set. I think i had 5600hp.Also the first boss in mana tombs is a joke. Drop earth elementals and just blow him up. The way that I do it is drop all 5 earth elementals if I am unsure about the boss/fight. If there are any left living at the end of the fight then next time you can think about scalling it back. Do both of those for ~2 weeks and you have your new shield. When doing heroics I often have more problems with the trash than the bosses.

Another choice is the Shattered Sun Offensive Shield if you are close to exalted just grind that away.

Ive already completed the quest with the buckler reward so thats not an option anymore. I could buy five Sunward Crest (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34675) though (im exalted with shattered sun) .

As for the heroics: ive done a few trial runs and the trash hit me so hard that i gave up after a few whipes. Perhaps it'll go better with shields and 1h maces.

Heroics : I'd start with Ramps, Mana Tombs, and Underbog (or Slave Pens, tho some of the 4-5 pulls can get hairy with the mind controls and fears). Ramps is a really good start.
Basic suggestion: don't use chain lightning at first, just nuke down one target, and as soon as the other melee is on you, drop stoneclaws. Finish off the first and rinse repeat. At the lower gear levels some of the double destroyer pulls, they Mortal Strike, were hairy - a lot of Lightning Bolt, Lesser Healing Wave, Lightning Bolt combos. But all the bosses are easy, earth eles on the Gatekeeper, just ground the hell out of Omor, and then seperate the Nazan and Van and nuke Nazan in the air until he lands and then drop fire eles. Once you get it down, I can clear it in about 30 minutes. Easy 4 badges, and will give you good tips for some of the harder instances with Shamans, like Shadow Labs, Steamvaults, or Arcatraz.

Botanica is another really easy heroic too... 5 badges in a run. But the set of mobs before the 2nd boss are 4-5 pulls as well, but a good stepping stone.

absolutely amazing quality! im stunned! very good video very nice and i do agree that no music has a certain... what the french call " i don't know what" but i like it. anyways what did u use to record? fraps? and what did u use to encode and edit etc etc? and also if u used fraps did u use full setting? ie u recorded it in full size like 1280 x 1024?

It took me 11 shadow lab runs to get exalted, but now i have Gavel of Unearthed Secrets (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=30832) combined with Sunward Crest (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=34675)! still debating on a stamina or intellect chant on the shield, but i can worry about that later (have 18 sta on it atm).

As for the way the movie was recorded: i used fraps to record the source material, with the capture setting at half size. After that i used windows movie maker (the one that ships with vista) to make the subtitles and fast forward effect and i saved the file with a custom profile, allowing me to keep the original resolution (normally, movie maker offers only standard resolutions). As a final step i used Adobe Flash CS3 Video Encoder with the encoding setting at "flash 8 - high quality (700 kbps)".

If you upload a movie to youtube or other video sites, the video is usually re-encoded and distorted to fit the video frame on that website, so you lose both the quality of the video and the aspect ratio doesnt match anymore. I am hosting the video file on my own vps and on my site i use FLV-Scrubber (http://www.topfstedt.de/weblog/?page_id=208) as player.

I took a small break from wow, but now that the release date of wotlk has been anounced, i am back :)

As for the chrono beacons: i had the chrono beacon on a hotkey in each window and after the boss was on the stone elementals i simply activated it manually in each window. The guardians summoned are quite fragile so the key is to do it fast in order to get a few slow-time-buffs on the boss.
