5x Ghost Sabers

I decided to suck it up and get 5 ghost sabers for my 5 hunters (level 30) once I had the new low-level mount to help me zip around.

These are my findings:
Ghost Saber #1: 1st try, died within 5 minutes and went from "happy" status to "neutral", level 20
Ghost Saber #2: 35th try, did not die, level 20
Ghost Saber #3: 1st try, died within 5 minutes and went from "happy" status to "unhappy", level 19
Ghost Saber #4: 4th try, did not die, level 19
Ghost Saber #5: 2nd try, died within 5 minutes and went from "happy" status to "unhappy", level 20

Time spent: 4 hours

Interesting facts:- After 4 hours of "grinding" level 20 mobs, Ghost Saber #1 is still loyalty level 1 (Rebellious). Loyalty is a myserious thing -- apparently they don't gain any unless you are fighting mobs that give XP.
- Ghost Saber #1 ate 11 Wild Hog Shanks in order to stay "happy" status.
- I went through 8992 razor arrows across 5 hunters clearing "trash" around the spawn points.
- I stabled my old pets and tamed an on-site single level 19 plainstrider to tank the trash around the spawns before I tamed my first ghost saber.
- 5 hunters can clear the area faster than the ghost saber items will spawn.

Was it worth it? Would I do it again?
Absolutely. You simply cannot get transparent kitties anywhere else. However, if I'd do it again I'd make sure I could still get XP from the mobs in the area, since 4 hours of farming gray mobs isn't exactly efficient. This is a good quest to pair up with the Mathystra Relics quest (which, sadly, I had already completed some time earlier).

Vyn, I want to do this too, but I'm going to wait till Wrath, so the pets will automatically be (player level -5), so I won't have to go through the painful leveling process.

Might I suggest an audiobook?

I got my first ghostsaber on the 1st item, and then went 35 more of these things (waiting on the respawn) to get my 2nd. Thank god the 3rd, 4th, and 5th were quick.

Right now my hunters are 30 and tear through pretty much everything (I haven't instanced since BFD) so a difference of 10 levels isn't too bad. In hindsight, they're pretty useless until I can train dash -- at least compared to my boars.

On a side note, 5 wolves with a furious howl castsequence pwns face -- even if they don't reach their target before it dies. ;)


My goal is to get my warlocks and hunters to 70 before wrath, then pick based off of which I like best: shammy, hunter, warlock... or a combination with my priest/pally/shammy tank/heals.

All lowbie windserpents have caster stats.

That and I am at no lack of DPS at this level. ;)

I've got a friend urging me to reroll horde for the orc racial... Or perhaps tauren/troll. The alliance racials make me cry, but not as much as thinking about getting 5x ghost cats... AGAIN.

I hope you don't mind but I am going to copyCAT you. :) I never saw those cats until you posted this thread. They are really neat. I'm Horde, though so I imagine it may be a real pain in the ass.

Just wanted to say that i am in beta. Before i made my 5box team my mains, I raided with a hunter through t5 and some t6. If you want to know anything about hunters in beta, let me know and ill try and get you info/screen shots or videos. I am leveling him because i feel weak with my shaman lol. Not having the rest of my team with her.

Atm he is using an Eagle. It has a disarm ability.. its cool! I have seen some of the WotLK wolves and they look cool as well. I am waiting for the 51 point BM talent to go in so I can seek out the so called " exotic beasts" Like the devalsaurs!

Alliance does have quests there, but I rarely see any 70's. So just beware, the mobs in that area are in their 20's so you should probably be safe as long as you can take a level 20 mob plus a potential level 20-25 alliance character if they decide to try and start some PvP.

That being said, alliance are not flagged for PvP in that zone either so if someone else is in there wiping up all the cat figurine spawns you can't gank them to get them out of your way.

Since posting my humar pics everyone keeps asking me why I haven't got these cats. Sadly I have just decided I'll give in to peer pressure and (once I have finished my 5,000 word essay) I will go get some and try them out - Humars will get stabled first tho!! I never bothered with these cats before because they seemed too hard to get... ironic, isn't it...

My daughter and I got these on our BE hunters at around level 25 or so. The worst part was the run. I think, for both of us, we had to find like 25 or so of the little idols. They are so cool, it was definitely worth doing. We got ours and a guildie saw them and got one. He was 70 and we had to listen to the pet leveling progress for the next week. :D

Can you give more details on the BM talent "Master's Call". It was NYI (not yet implemented) but I believe made it into today's patch.

It removes movement impairing effects from a friendly party member, correct?
Does it include fear?

That's the only hunter talent I was curious about... I'm considering what I want to roll to 80 in WoTLK -- hunters are on the list since it seems that warlock felpuppies will no longer be able to eat fears.

Quite a feat to get that tiger model on alliance before Winterspring.
