Hi guys,

A good 80% of boxers all play a Priest as the main and 4 Locks as the Clones.

What is so awesome about this setup for PvP and PvE that almost everyone chooses to do it? What am I missing?

Where are your insta-gib abilities? Other than not having to face the right way to DPS and being able to do dmg while moving - isn't there too much micromanagment to do it all efficiently?

Do you play your priests as Holy or Shadow?

I am deciding between Priest / 4 Warlock or 5 Shaman - and I'm about ready to get started levelling. So want to know what you guys all think.

you are not right. It is far from 80%. Maybe 30% or so.

locks are perfect for pvp, as good as mages (sorry Xzin :P). They got alot of dots with +10% chance to not to get resist and 4 aoe fears. Also mana and health drain + pets with seduce, silence, sta_buff and small tanks. So you can kill a high lvl enemy without problem. I think even mages can get killed by high lvl cuz of resists when locks wont get resists and can spam 4 fears while dots are ticking.
Also dont forget destro locks got insta-gib skills like shadowbolts - 4 sb is insta death for anyone. Add there are shadowburn, conflag, incinerate... grr hot ^^
I play locks instead of my shamans team because I like being able to dps while moving and also cba to care about facing targets :P

priest is holy ofc.
disc/holy at high lvls for pvp

There are way too many things to list as for why so many of us chose locks to go with the priest. One primary benefit is that it makes it MUCH easier to run elite quests and instances because you have pocket tanks that will do in a pinch for most things. People say they pets won't be viable later on but I'd argue that they'll be just as viable as non-protection warriors/pallies that aren't in uber gear.

A few reasons I can think of...

1) Running while casting.
2) Pets can tank, CC, and DPS.
3) Proven DPS against multiple targets.
4) Many CC options.
5) Easy classes to coordinate.
6) Can be 100% undead--WotF.

For the multi-box pvp'er, it just makes sense. I think Shammy's would work good too though. I seriously considered it.

I'm going to try 3 locks and 2 shadow priests.

shamans are good to eliminate a few targets at once with chain lightning

also they are powerful at keeping themselves alive. I mean mail armour, defencive totems like grounding totems which make them immune to most of spells, all can heal... they are just not that mobile like warlocks

5x Earth shock is a hefty amount of instant mobile damage though!

especially if you are ele specced... my enh shammy crits ES for 1K

not really good enough...

1. you must be faced the target
2. there is cooldown
3. pretty low range
4. you still cant be mobile since you have to dance around totems :P

Biggest problem I had with my shaman (only got them to 22) was the lack of a tank when it came to doing VC.. Sure I could clear it but on VC I always died to his adds after bursting him down and with 4 void walkers + shields + drain life it just would have been a lot easier.

Pity the PTR just shut down. :(

So my monitor mounts and DVI cables will arrive on Monday, just need to go get a 8 port switch/router as I dont want to waste a power point on another switch.

Hopefully by the time everything is setup we have a new PTR to test on.

Out of everything I tried (2x Mages, 2x Shamans and 2x Shadowpriest) I think I enjoyed and survived the best on Shamans.

I will definetly try out Priest + Warlocks though.
