View Full Version : xKeys, Keyclone error

So been multiboxing for awhile (1-70), and just now decided to upgrade to xkeys pro (USB).
I run all on one pc using keyclone. For the life of me I can not get keyclone to recognize the keys I programmed into xkeys.
If I run wow normal without keyclone, I can press the xkeys and they do what they are suppose to do. If I start up wow with keyclone, my xkey is not recognized at all. I can't even use it to type in the keyclone window itself.
Are there special drivers or setting I need to do to get it to work? I searched the forums and could not find anything.

The Xkeys behaves like any normal ps2 keyboard -- no special drivers needed.
Now, if you're using the USB version of the xkeys, there might be a different story... EDIT: I'm dumb, you did say USB. Was there a reason for this choice?
While running keyclone, can you open up a notepad window and see yourself typing using the xkeys?

Yes I am able to type everywhere except the wow windows and the keyclone window. As far as the choice for USB/PS2, well, no answer really. I do plan on upgrading to hardware boxing and so should have gone with the ps2.

sorry to bump a post so soon, but I was hoping to get this fixed asap. Has anyone had any similiar issues with an USB X-keys Pro and keyclone not working toghether?

so I have at least 100% positive it is a Keyclone error and not a hardware issue. Is there any chance I can have this post moved to Keyclone support forum?

Well I have all but given up. I have tried everythign I can think of to fix the problem with keyclone and xkeys but no luck. I guess by the lack of response that this is an isolated issue, or a nub question whose answer is buried in the search function (though I can't find it).
Sooo... Last call for help before I pack up the xkeys and send it back. Does anyone have any clue what the issue could be?

i have never used xkeys, so i am totally guessing... but it sounds like a usb driver that is special to xkeys, and thus might not be seen by keyclone.
if you could swap it for the ps/2 version, i believe that would work
(i have been told keyclone works with xkeys... but have never confirmed it personally)

I honestly don't know -- I don't know how many keyclone users also use a USB version of the xkeys. For the most part, I always recommend people buy the PS2 version since it works for both hardware and software rigs in case you decide to upgrade to a hybrid or hardware setup.
Also, if a new OS comes out and XKeys discontinues support of their USB drivers, you're SOL. A PS2 device will always work (as long as there is a PS2 slot on your computer, heh)

Oh, and make sure that macroworks is running as Administrator also as keyclone is. I like vista and UAC BUT every now and them it messes things up.

What have you programmed into the XKeys?
Full text macros ("/cast [target=...." etc) or just keystroke replacements (ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+/, whatever?
The former does not work, and will not work unless KC is able to implement the "receive only" option that I requested a while ago. The latter I have no problem with, and cannot begin to explain why you might :(

you sir are a genius. That is exactly what the problem was. I am up an running without a problem (although I did have to reprogram everything)

if you saved your loadout you can re-load it, being you are running under a different user it does not autoload the one you built before.

UAC is damn frustrating. I have admin rights but once in a while I have to force a program to run in admin mode. stupid stupid. I even have UAC turned off... lets not get into the nightmare this caused me and still causes from time to time.
I will let you know what my results are.
By the way the USB version does not use drivers.. well not proprietary drivers Vista sees it as a HID or a keyboard and loads HID drivers. You really do not need to use the software that comes with the device unless you are on Vista. If you are on XP or earlier you can use the Macro recorder to load the keymapping on the X-keys itself much like the PS/2 version but you are limited to I think 1000 characters I happen to use the software keymapper but being on Vista that is the only choice I have either way.
