Level for AV contribution

I'm curious as to what level people feel they were able to contribute effectively in AV. I"m 63 now and I'd like to start breaking up the leveling grind with some pvp but I also do not want to be a hindrance in AV to the rest of my team. What level have people found they started being effective in AV?

at first i was not very high up in any category but now i routinely break top 5 kbs and hks for my 3 shamans , and at least 1 shaman usually makes top 3 for overall damage. I am also able to stop the horde at balinda some times, 100% if my gf is healing me on her shaman and i can typically force a horde turtle which while takes longer means i can rack up wards of 200hks at 2 honor apiece.

Personally I think the best level to contribute in battlegrounds is at 70, but I am slightly biased. I always sort of find it a slap to the face when sub 70s come join a battle ground and are just running around like headless chickens not contributing to anything.

At 63 you can aoe heal the rush pretty well.Your spells wont do much to anything, npcs will kill you np 1 70 can kill your hole group easy.But the upside you will learn how to stay alive as a scrub.I farmed av weekend at 63 allot of haters hehe

I always sort of find it a slap to the face when sub 70s come join a battle ground and are just running around like headless chickens not contributing to anything.I understand why you would think this and generally I agree with you but if Blizzard intended for it to be 70 only then they wouldn't have made the range 61 to 70 in AV. I do respect your opinion on this though so don't take what i'm saying as a flame. I also don't want to be a drain on the team and basically want to find out when I can contribute without being an utter drain. The other posters idea about healing the rest of the group is a great idea and would allow me to contribute very effectively without ruining the bg for everyone else.

I was in AV at level 63. It was a blast. I love playing as an underdog, and seeing what I can accomplish. Don't let any B.S. about 'unless your 70 gtfo' bother ya- as a boxer you are a group of lowbies that are extremely well coordinated- and I think you will be amazed what you can pull off if you play smart. The only downside is that alot of AV is PvE- which is more difficult at lower levels imo than the PvP.

I don't think lvl really matters that much, it's more about how you spent your time. If you got 1 healer and 1 dpser to go with you and recap towers/bunkers/GY's you can be very effective i think.

Did AV on 4 lvl 60 shamans today, quite some hours. In BGchat people often asked at the beginning of a game if they had won AV's today. The only AV's won, were the won i was in. :thumbsup:

Totally loved it, because with defending and killing the 2-3 people who try to cap something i can make myself very usefull. Since you get leader most of the times and if you would be able to effectively help winning an AV people will gain respect and listen, or atleast think about what you just typed. Normally people just ignore it, but i now feel that at least a few people care, group up and get a tower/bunker i ask to. Which is awesome. power to the boxers! 8)

I would say when i was doing AV at 62/63 i was able to tip the balance and increase the win ratio in favour of horde (my side) quite effectively. How im 70, 1000 spell damage (with totem), 380 resi, i win at least 90% of my AV games.

I say do AV whenever you want to and tell anyone who says you shouldnt be there to shove it up their ass.

No 1 x 70 can take my group... but 2 x 70 Rogues took 4 out before help arrived.
But, yes, avoid the NPCs and heal during those fights.

In 4h of AV, I was only told once to "go and level" but they soon shut up when they saw 4 x EM & CL melt a bunch of Horde!

Imo you should never enter AV before lvl 70.

Your time is much better spent leveling up. And then you can have a much better time in AV at lvl 70 and in your new blue pvp set (you should aim for doing the neccecary grind/quests to have every piece when you ding lvl 70)

Personally I dont like the idea of sub-lvl70's in a lvl 70 BG. One thing is level, another thing is that a sub70 have about no resilience and the gear-gap is just too big. I hope they restrict AV in wotlk til only lvl 80's

I went at 62 with all my grps. AV 61-70 you earn full honor at 70 lvl BG. I always work 4-5 in a weekend then back to lvling . for AV weekends i live in it. 5 hunter grp was most fun. 3 mages 1 holy piest and prot din was also fun (aoe tower anyone)

do not listen to talk you must be 70. If you are instance geared you will have a good shot of taking down 70s. I do av to get 75k honor for turn in at 70 to be able to run wsg , ab , eye at 70. works for me

In all honesty, it varies, sometimes AV will be full of nublets, and a group of 61's can do well, other times it's pretty serious. When you start talking about a 70 in S3/S4, your level 61's don't stand much of a chance. You might take him out if you catch him off guard at max range, but if he comes for you, count your blessings quickly, because it's all over, especially a paladin, Bubble consecrate, and whack each of your guys twice, it's all over.

That being said it's still fun to see how you can do, but you know you can't compete against any kind of real teamwork or opposition that is level 70.

This weekend I was that douchebag bringing in a bunch of lowbies. I even joined a premade on my server with 4x 66s. But hey, I'll have season 2 robe and helm the day I hit 70 :)

testing my elemental shamans in wsg at level 12 went to be an epic fail against 8 meele twinks and i can imagine av would feel something like the same way.

My tip would be to find a s3/s4 warrior and heal him and support him with WF if you can get a shaman into his group.

I do not disagree with this based on number of tokens needed, but 60-69 ques suck and honor is not full (less than 70). I only run eye from 60-69 , ab, wsg are run 29, 39,49,59

but then again its up to you.
